  • A case of House theft has been registered in Barke Police Station. On 27/07/2006 between 0830 to 1615 hrs some unknown persons gained entry into the house of Rama Kulai (78), Seetharama Nilaya Kodiyalguttu Mangalore by breaking the front door lock and committed theft of gold ornaments worth Rs. 1,07,000/.

  • A case of ordinary theft has been registered in Urva Police Station. On 30/07/2006 in between 1120 hrs to 1130 hrs two unknown persons entered as customers into the Jewellers shop opposite Karnataka Bank Near Marigudi Temple Managalore and committed theft of gold ornaments worth Rs 70,000/ by diverting the attention of the shop keeper.

  • A case of MV theft has been registered in Barke Police Station. On 27/07/2006 some unknown persons committed theft of a Hero Honda motorcycle bearing reg. No KA-19-R-494 which was parked in the compound of Mangalore City Corporation Mangalore. The m/c was worth Rs 25,000/.

  • A case of MV theft has been registered in Konaje Police Station. On the intervening night of 29-30/07/2006 some unknown persons committed theft of a Hero Honda motorcycle bearing Reg. No. KA-19-E-7863 which was parked at the residence of K.P. Abbas Kalkatta Batyadka Manjanadi village Mangalore. It was worth Rs. 5,000/.

  • A case of Fatal Road accident has been registered in Panambur Police Station. On 30/07/2006 at 1200 hrs at NMPT yard Panambur, one Umesh the driver of a Lorry bearing Reg. No. KA-09-A-3136 drove his vehicle in backward direction in rash and negligent manner and dashed to one Shrikanth, Cleaner of the same Lorry due which he died on the spot.

  • A case of Non Fatal Road accident has been registered in Bajpe Police Police Station. On 29/07/2006 at 2345 hrs near Ganjimatta junction Badagulippadi village Mangalore Taluk one unknown Jeep driver bearing Reg. No. KA-15-M-471 drove his vehicle in rash and negligent manner and dashed against an auto rickshaw bearing No. KA-20-7594 due which the Auto rickshaw driver Jayaprakash and passenger Jagadish Poojari sustained simple injuries.

  • A case of Non Fatal Road accident has been registered in Urva Police Station. On 29/07/2006 at 1600 hrs one unknown driver of Goods Lorry bearing Reg. No. KA-25-A-3021 drove his vehicle in backward direction and dashed against the entrance gate of KSRTC workshop at Kuntikan Mangalore. As a result the entrance gate collapsed and Suresh who has working near the gate sustained injuries.

  • A case of Non Fatal Road accident has been registered in Konaje Police Station. On 29/07/2006 at 1900 hrs near Mudipu Kurnadu village Bantwal Taluk one Thulasidas rider of motorcycle bearing Reg. No. KA-19-Q-6198 drove his vehicle in rash and negligent manner and dashed to one Paul Montheiro (60) a pedestrian and caused simple injuries.

  • A case of Non Fatal Road accident has been registered in Ullal Police Station. On 30/07/2006 at 1000 hrs at NH 17 near Rama Bajana Madira Kolya Ullal Mangalore Taluk one unknown rider of motorcycle bearing Reg. No. KA-21-4550 drove his vehicle in rash and negligent manner and dashed to one Muttu (65) w/o Rukmya Poojari Kolya a pedestrian and caused simple injuries.

  • A case of Non Fatal Road accident has been registered in Kavoor Police Station. On 30/07/2006 at 2115 hrs infront of Honda showroom Derebailu villge Mangalore Taluk on NH 17 one Shekar driver of Tanker bearing Reg. No. KA-19-5323 drove his vehicle in rash and negligent manner and dashed against a car Reg. No. KA-19-P-7873. As result Ganesh Gowda (22), Jayaprakash who were in the car and the car driver sustained simple injuries.

  • A case of Non Fatal Road accident has been registered in Belthangady Police Station. On 30/07/2006 at 1630 hrs at Ayyappa gudi in Belthangady town one Shrinivas Shetty driver of Jeep bearing Reg. No. KA-20-Z-1112 drove his vehicle in rash and negligent manner and dashed against a motorcycle bearing Reg. No. KA-21-E-6509. As result motorcycle rider Shivaprasad and pillion rider Prashanth were seriously injured. The Jeep driver also sustained injuries.

  • A case of Non Fatal Road acciedent has been registered in Bantwal Town Police Station. On 29/07/2006 at 0930 hrs on NH 48 near Thumbe one Ronald driver of Lorry Reg. No. CRX-9724 drove his vehicle in rash and negligent manner and dashed against motorcycle bearing Reg. No. KA-19-V-3585. As result the motorcycle rider Ashok Kumar (47) sustained simple injuries.

  • A case of wrongful restrain and hurt has been registered in Surathkal Police Station. On 30/07/2006 at 2030 hrs Accused Lokesh Munchoor (27) and three others entered into a Bar belonging to Ramanatha Rai (44) at Thadambail Surathkal and abused him in filthy language and assaulted with hands. They also broke the glass worth Rs.2000/.

  • A case of hurt has been registered in Subramanya Police Station. On 29/07/2006 at 1730 hrs Kittanna Naik, Obayya Naik and Rammayya Naik with common intension assaulted Sri Ram, Bomettu House Kalmadka village Sullia with Stone and by hand owing to trivial issue.

  • A case of wrongful restraint and hurt has been registered in Vittla Police Station. On 30/07/2006 at 1500 hrs near Mithanadka Bantwal Taluk Thimappa Gowda, Shrinivas and Thukrappa wrongfully restrained the auto rickshaw of Mohammed Sharif (20) and abused in filthy language and assaulted by hand over a trivial issue.

  • A case of hurt has been registered in Bantwal Rual Police Station. On 29/07/2006 at 1800 hrs one Victor D’souza, Pius D’souza and Lorence D’mello abused one John Joseph D’souza (33) in filthy language and assaulted with a iron rod owing to land dispute.

  • A case of hurt and wrongful restraint has been registered in Bantwal Rual Police Station. On 30/7/2006 at 2130 hrs accused Ashif, Zakariya and Haneef wrongfully entered the house of Mohammed Rafiq (37) at Sajipanadu village Bantwal Taluk and assaulted with wooden stick and also gave life threat to Mohammed Rafiq and his wife Nassimunnisa owing to previous enmity.

  • A case of Kidnapping has been registered in Belthangady Police Station relating to kidnapping of one Harshitha (16) by one Jayaraj (28). The said Harshita was found missing from Didupe of Mithinadka Village since 30/6/2006. Now as it was confirmed that she has been lured away by Jayaraj, the case has been converting to kidnapping.

  • A case under cow slaughter Act has been registered in Kadaba Police Station. On 30/07/2006 at 0515 hrs PSI Kadaba PS on credible information intercepted a Mahindra pickup Van Reg. No. KA-21-B-8786 near Puchejalu Punachapadi village Putur Taluk and seized 09 cattle that were being transported illegally in cruel manner. In this connection Karim, Ibrahim were arrested. Jeep driver however escaped from the place.

On 26/07/2006 at 1600 hrs one Keshva (35) Doddikatte House Bajpe village Mangalore Taluk fell down from the top of tree near his house and seriously injured and admitted to Wenlock hospital. On 29/07/2006 at 1100 hrs while under treatment he was declared dead.

  • A case of Unnatural death has been registered in Belthangady Police Station. On 28/07/2006 at 1000 hrs one Vishwanatha Andanayya Chowkimatta (33) Panchana pete Shiruru Bhagalkote slipped into the Netravathi River while having bath due which he gor drowned and died.

  • A case of Unnatural death has been registered in Belthangady Police Station. One Jemes D’souza (32) Near Church cross, Belthangady Taluk committed suicide by hanging in his house between 30/7/2006 to 31/07/2006- 0630 hrs owing to financial problems.

  • A case of Unnatural death has been registered in Bantwal Rural Police Station. One Jagadish (35) Thumbe village, fell down from the roof of Maruthi tiles factory while working. As a result he died on the spot.

  • A case of Unnatural death has been registered in Bantwal Rural Police Station. One Shanthappa Naik (28) Menadu House Modanadugodu village Bantwal Taluk sliped into well while taking bath and died.

Two Associates of Bannanje Raja Nabbed By Anti Rowdy Squad


The District Anti Rowdy Squad has today (31/07/06) nabbed two associates of under world Criminal Bannanje Raja from Kavoor and seized a loaded revolver and a Pistol with live rounds .

The names of accused being:
  1. Suresh Kumar @ Karate Suresh (35) R/o Mahesh Nilaya, Kamblakatta, Kodavoor Village, Udupi
  2. Srinivas @ Sheena (41) R/o Thodlagudde, Kavoor, Kunjathbail Village, Mangalore Taluk

Facts of the Case

On 31/07/2006 noon the Anti Rowdy Squad headed by PI Mr.Vinay Gaonkar on routine patrolling at Kavoor found accused No1 Karate Suresha of Udupi a known Rowdy sheeter and associate of underworld criminal Bannanje Raja chatting with accused No.2 on the footpath, with a motorbike parked aside. On seeing the police they attempted to flee but, were caught by the squad.

On their personal search, a loaded imported pistol (worth Rs.2 lakhs) was found in the possession of Karate Suresha while another loaded imported revolver (worth Rs.1 lakhs) was found in the possession of the latter, both without licence.

Hence the duo was arrested along with the pistol, revolver, 11 live rounds, 02 mobile phones and the motorcycle and handed over to Kavoor PS for further legal action.

The accused persons it appears were hatching a conspiracy attack some businessman/industrialist in the city at the behest of Bannanje Raja. However the mater is being probed further by Kavoor Police.
Accused No.1 Karate Suresha being a dangerous associate of Bannanje Raja has so far involved in 01 case of murder, 03 cases of attempt to murder and 03 cases of hurt in Udupi district. Accused No. 2 has involved in one case under Wild Life Protection Act earlier.

ASI Narayana Byndoor, Chandappa, Yogish, Umesh Hosolike, Damodar, Melwin Pinto, Subba Patali, David D’souza and Shiva Naik of the Anti Rowdy Squad had participated in the operation.

  • A case under the Prevention of destruction & loss of property Act 1981 has been registered in Barke Police Station. On 29/07/2006 at 1945 two unknown persons came in a motor cycle bearing Reg. No. KA-19-V-863 and damaged a Tailors Shop at Beasent Complex Mangalore by pelting stones. The damagecaused is about Rs. 25,000/.

  • A case of affray has been registered in Ullal Police Station. On 29/07/2006 at 2300hrs accused Raju S, Pradeep, Prashanth and Prasad picked up quarrel and started fighting over trivial issue in public place near Pandit house Peramannur village Mangalore Taluk. The police arrested the accused and took up a case under affray (sec.160 IPC).

  • A case of Unnatural death has been registered in Uppinangady Police Station. One Sajeeth (35) Murikupuya Minichil Taluk Kerala State was injured seriously by an elephant at Bejile Estate Belthangady village and admitted to hospital and while under treatment he was declared dead.

Workshop On Right To Information Act For SC/ST People Of DK District


A workshop on the Right To Information Act (RTI) was arranged under the auspices of DK Police today (30/07/06) exclusively for the people belonging to the SC/ST communities at the Conference hall of Police Guest House Mangalore.

SP DK Mr.B.Dayananda in his introductory remarks highlighted that the workshop has been arranged for the benefit of SC/ST people of the district so as to empower them so that they will get their works done from various departments more confidently. He opined that the use of the RTI by the people will help in reducing corruption in government offices and it will also ensure greater trensparency and accountability in the functioning of various departments of the government.

Mr. Ashok & Mrs. Pramila the two resource persons from Prajna Samiti later conducted the workshop in three sessions. The first session was on the "Origin of Right to Information". In this an attempt was made to trace the evolution of right for information in the global context.

The second session covered the explaining of various provisions of the Right to Information Act-2005. In this the various provisions of the act were explained in detail with lot of practical examples.

In the third session hands on experience on "How to apply for desired information" was given to the participants. In this the actual application forms were distributed to all participants and step by step instructions on how to fill up the application were given.

At the end of each session participants were given an opportunity to ask questions and seek clarifications. In all nearly about 100 persons participated in this workshop. While most of these were members of various Dalith organizations there were also some government officers, Police officers and journalists.

The workshop generated lot of discussion between participants and resource persons. The workshop went on for 03 hrs from 1115 hrs to 1415 hrs.
At the end in his concluding remarks, SP DK explained that it is just one year since the act is passed and hence it is still to be fully stabilized. Lot of modifications and amendments are also being made based on feed back, practical experience, and judicial pronouncements. Hence if more and more people use the act, it will help the act to grow and stabilize in future. He also announced more such workshops on themes and topics relevant to SC/ST people will be organized in the futuer monthly Dalith Meetngs

Mangalore City: Public Order Situation

Today (29/07/2006) afternoon between 1300 hrs and 1400 hrs, there were four stray incidents of stone pelting in Mangalore city in which two showrooms, one bus and one auto rickshaw were targeted. In one such incident of attack on Auto rickshaw at Nandigudde of Mangalore South PS limits, one person was caught red hand. On interrogation he was identified to be belonging to the Sree Rama Sene. Based on his information, three more persons who had participated in the incident were arrested. They also belonged to the Sree Rama Sene.

Subsequently, the Mangalore East Police took about 18 persons belonging to Sree Rama Sene who had gathered at Balmatta into preventive custody. They are being produced before the jurisdictional Taluk Executive Magistrate under the preventive sections of CrPC.

Later in the evening another 33 persons who had gathered infront of Mangalore East PS protesting against the arrest of their friends were also rounded up as precautionary measure under sec 71 of the Karnataka Police Act.

In the light of these developments, security has been beefed up in the city. Civil and Armed pickets have been arranged in all sensitive places. In addition, KSRP and DAR striking forces have also been deployed at strategic places in the city.

It is reiterated that stern action will be taken against all mischievous, criminal and anti social elements who try to disturb peace and tranquillity of the area. The people are requested contact the nearest police station or police control room directly if they notice anything unusual in their area.

Work Shop On Right To Information Act Organized For Daliths By DK Police On 30th Jul 06

The Dakshina Kannada Police has organized a workshop on the Right To Information Act exclusively for the people of the Dalith community of DK District this Sunday on 30/07/06. This workshop has ben arranged as a part of the monthly Dalith Meeting which the DK Police is conducting regularly every last Sunday of the month for the last one year to redress the grievances of these deprived sections of the society.

The workshop will be conducted by the resource persons of the Pragna Samithi of Mysore - a Non Government Organization working in the field of social awareness.

Ever since the Right to Information (RTI) has come into force last year (yr 2005), it has immensely benefited the people in getting the desired information from the concerned departments relating to various issues. In this context, the purpose of this workshop is to make the SC/ST people aware of the Act so that they can make use of the provisions of the Act to get their desired works done from the concerned Government departments. During the workshop, besides explaining the provisions of the Act, participants will be given hands on (practical) training about how to fill the application form seeking information...etc.
There is no entry fee for the workshop. Those interested are most welcome to attend.

  • A case of House theft has been registered in Ullal Police Station. On the intervening night of 27/28-7-2006 some unknown persons gained entry into the house of Ravi D’souza, Machila Peramunnor Village Mangalore Taluk by removing the roof tiles and took away gold ornaments worth Rs. 72,000/.

  • A case of MV theft has been registered in Mangalore North Police Station. On 24/07/2006 in between 1600 hrs to 1700 hrs some unknown persons committed theft of Rickshaw Tempo Reg. No. KA-19-A-73 which was parked near M.R.F. Shop 3 rd Cross Nehru Maidan Mangalore.

No. KA-21P-5009 drove his vehicle in rash and negligent manner and dashed to a scooter bearing Reg. No. KA-21-E-2370 from behind due which the rider of the scooter P.M. Majid (41) sustained grievous injuries.
  • A case of Non Fatal Road accident has been registered in Kavoor Police Station. On 27/07/2006 at 1450 hrs on NH 17 near Bangra Kulur village Manglore Taluk one Mansoor driver of Bus bearing Reg. No. KA-19-B-7499 drove his Bus in rash and negligent manner and dashed against a Tata indica car bearing Reg. No. KA-19-MF-9269 which was driven by R.K. Purushotham (37). As result the car got damaged but no injuries reported.

On 27/07/2006 at 1200hrs near Netravathi Bridge, Jappinamogaru village Mangalore Taluk one Ummer Faruk driver of motorcycle bearing Reg. No. KA-19-V-5813 drove his vehicle in rash and negligent manner and dashed to one Maimuna a pedestrian. As a result Maimuna sustained grievous injuries.
  • A case of Non Fatal Road accident has been registered in Ullal Police Station. On 27/07/2006 at 2115 hrs near Kumpala Baipass Juction Someshwara Village Mangalore Taluk one Roshan D’Souza driver of Maruti Omini bearing Reg. No. KA-19-B-1790 drove his vehicle in rash and negligent manner and dashed to one Pramod a pedestrian. As a result Promod sustained grievous injuries.
  • A case of Non Fatal Road accident has been registered in Konaje Police Station. On 20/07/2006 at 1700 hrs near Asaigoli Konaje village Mangalore Taluk one Abdul Bashir driver of auto rickshaw bearing Reg. No. KA-19-A-9015 drove his vehicle in rash and negligent manner and lost control over it due which the auto rickshaw capsized and the passenger Moidin Kunhi sustained simple injuries.

  • A case under sec. 4 (1) (A) and sec. 9, 21, (1) (2) (3) (4) 23 and 24 MM (R.D) 1957 and 468, 471, 379, 420 IPC has been registered in Surathkal Police Station on the complaint of Mr.Veerayya Senior Geologist Mines and Geology dept. On 26-27/07/06 he along with staff while on duty at Mukka check post found 07 Lorries transporting iron ore form Hospet to Mangalore with duplicate permits. Thus he has lodged this complaint and handed over the lorries with goods and documents to Surathkal PS who are conducting further investigation. Further all the seven drivers of these lorries have been arrested and remanded for judicial custody.

  • A case under the Prevention of destruction & loss of property Act 1981 together with Rioting and Criminal intimidation has been registered in Urva Police Station. On 24/07/2006 at 2130 hrs at Santhosh Bar Urva store Mangalore some 4-5 unknown persons came and ransacked the hotel and also abused the inmates in filthy language. The total damage caused is estimated to be around Rs.7,000/. This seems to be the handiwork of a particular organization and the motive seems to be serving of beef in the hotel.
  • A case under Rioting and Criminal intimidation has been registered in Uppinangady Police Station. On 25/07/2006 at 1505 hrs, Rafiq @ Ibrahim, Prakash, Vishwanatha, Hemaraj, Abdul Riyaz, Santhosh and Jayaprakash entered into the Classic Bar and Restaurant Nellyadi Puttur Taluk and damaged the showcase, abused the inmates in filthy language and assaulted by hand. Motive seems to be dispute regarding settlement of bill payment.

  • A case of Hurt and criminal intimidation has been registered in Uppinangady Police Station where in Sundara and 3 others assaulted Raju (19) a lorry cleaner R/o Hassan district by hand and wooden stick and threatened at Classic Bar and Restaurant Nellyadi Puttur Taluk for asking details of bill charged by Sundara. The alleged incident has occurred on 25/07/2006 at 1430 hrs.

  • A case of Unnatural death has been registered in Mangalore South Police Station. On 27/07/2006 at 1330 hrs one unknown male aged about 30 yrs who was was admitted to Wenlock hospital under serious condition while under treatment he was declared dead.
  • A case of Unnatural death has been registered in Kadaba Police Station. One Kandaswami (40) R/o Nooji Balthiila village Puttur taluk committed suicide by hanging in his house between 27/07/06 and 28/07/06 owing to personal problem in his life.
  • A case of Unnatural death has been registered in Moodabire Police Station. On 27/07/2006 in between 1000 to 1100 hrs Chandu Poojari (65) R/o Kallabettu village Mangalore taluk committed suicide by consuming poison owing to health problem.

On 26/07/2006 at 2045 hrs at Hosamajalu Koukrodi village Puttur taluk, 04 unknown persons entered the house of one Dr.C.Shivashankar Shastri (55) in the pretext of seeking treatment for stomach ache. Once inside, they tied both Dr.Shastri and his wife Vasanthi with rope and then took away gold ornaments (266 gms) and cash of 22,000/. The total value of property taken away is estimated to be Rs. 2,35,000/.

  • A case of Unnatural death has been registered in Belthangady Police Station. On 26/07/2006 at 0730 hrs Anitha (32) and her daughter Ramya (10) R/o Pambailu house Koyuru Village Belhangady Taluk committed suicide by consuming poison owing to personal family matter.

  • A case of Unnatural Death has been registered in Ullal Police Station. On 27/07/2006 at 0900 hrs a dead body was found on the banks of river Netharavathi at Kotepura Ullal. It was later ascertained to be that of one Chitharanjan Shetty (38) who was found missing since 24/07/2006 from Konaje Police Station Limits regarding which a case of missing person was registered there.
  • A case of Unnatural Death has been registered in Moodabidri Police Station. On 27/07/2006 between 1000 hrs and 1100 hrs one Chandu Poojary (65) R/o Kallotu Mariyadi House, Kallubettu Village Moodabidre committed suicide by consuming poison owing to health problem.

Puttur Town PS: Thief Caught, Cash Recovered

On 18/07/06 a case of Burglary was registered in Puttur Town Police Station where in on the intervening night of 17/18-07-2006 some unknown persons had entered a ready made dress shop located in the Lakshmi Complex, Puttur by break opening the shutter and committed theft of Cash Rs.50,000/ which was kept in the shop.
Puttur Town Police have now succeeded in arresting the person who had committed this theft. His name is identified as Harish Naik (23) and is found to be R/o Kodimbadi village of Puttur taluk. He was arrested by the police on 25/07/06 near bus stand in Kodimbadi village. The police have recovered Rs.36,053/ stolen cash from the accused. The remaining money has been already spent by the accsed.
It is learnt that the accused was earlier working in the same shop for abut 04-05 months and was reomoved 06 months back as he had serious drinking problem.
The accused has been produced before the jurisdictional court and has been remanded for judicial custody.

On 25/07/2006 at 1215 hrs near Puttur town bus stand, the driver of the auto rickshaw bearing Reg No. KA-21-8530 drove his vehicle in a rash and negligent manner and without giving any signal, he turned the auto rickshaw and dashed against the motorcycle No. KA-21-H-7030. As a result the motorcycle rider Damodar Shenoy (20) sustained simple injuries.

On 24/07/2006 in between 1030 hrs to 1500 hrs some unknown culprits gained entry into a house belonging to one M.Sadashiva located at Kudupadavu Kepu Village Puttur Taluk, by break opening the front door lock and stole gold ornaments and Cash of Rs 500/. Total worth of property stolen is around Rs.23, 000/.

Office Baikampady Industrial Area, when Sudhir the passenger of the bus No. KA-19-AA-7860 was getting down from the bus, the driver Narayana moved the bus in a negligent manner due which he was thrown out and sustained grievous injuries.

No. KA-19-249 while driving on a uphill road dashed to one Narendra Bhat (31) who was pushing the vehicle from behind and caused grievous injuries.

  • A case under the Prevention of destruction & loss of property Act 1981 together with Rioting and Criminal intimidation has been registered in Mangalore East Police Station. On 24/07/2006 at 1430 hrs at Hotel Ashirvad near Corporation Bank Kulashekar Mangalore some unknown persons came and ransacked the hotel and also abused the inmates in filthy language. The total damage caused is estimated to be around Rs.50,000/. This seems to be the handiwork of a particular organization and the motive serving of beef in the hotel. In all seven persons have been arrested in this case and they have been remanded for judicial custody.

On 22/07/2006 at 2330 hrs CPI Belthangady on credible information apprehended one P.V.Devasya (39) R/o Devagiri Neriya village near St. Thomas Church Gandibagilu Neria Village Belthangady Taluk and seized two leapord pelts worth Rs. 1 lakh. On interrogation, the police also seized an illigal SBML gun from the house of the accused.
  • A case U/s 86, 87, 71 (a) Karnataka Forest Act has been registered in Konaje Police Station. On 23/07/2006 at 0600 hrs at Natekall cross Konaje Village Puttur Taluk, PSI Konaje on credible information apprehended Irfan (19) R/o Vittla for transporting sandal wood illegally in a Ford Escort car bearing No. KA-P-9693. 40 Kgs of sandal wood worth Rs 40,000/ has been seized. Police are on the look out for two more persons who managed to escape.

On 20/07/2006 at 1700 hrs near Ajaru Junction Kondamula village Mangalore Taluk, one Pavithra (16) was on her way from college to home by walk. At that time some unknown person came and approached her and asked for the way to go to Kateel. Whilethe girl was showing showing the way, he snatched the gold chain from her neck and ran away. The value of the property is Rs. 7,000/.

On 21/07/2006 at 0815 hrs in front of Adlabs Building near KSRTC bus stand Mangalore, when Ragunandan, Sashikanth, Prabakar, and Shekar the passengers of the bus No. KA-19-2439 (belonging to Navadurga) were getting down from the bus, the driver moved the bus aheadly negligently due which the passengers were thrown out. They sustained grievous injuries. The driver went away from the spot without stopping.

On 19/07/2006 at 1800 hrs near Shivanagar road Moodushedde Mangalore Taluk one Hathim (35) drove his auto rickshaw KA-19-M-2947 in a rash and negligent manner and lost control over it and dashed to a road side blulder due which he sustained grievous injuries. Later while undergoing treatment in the hospital he succumbed to the injuries.

  • A case of Murder has been registered in Venoor Police Station where in one Janardhana Gowda (32) has murdered his own brother Padma Gowda (40) by stabbing with a sharp iron object owing to some land dispute. The incident has occured on 19/07/2006 at 2100 hrs in the house of Padma Gowda near Enmanje, Eliya-nadugodu Village, Bantwal taluk when all the family members were preparing to go to sleep.

  • A case of Non Fatal Road accident transferred from Badiyadka Police Station Kerala State has been registered in Vittla Police Station. On 03/07/2004 at 1115 hrs near Adyanadka Keppu Village, P.S.Sameer and his friend were traveling on a Hero Honda motorcycle No.KL-14-D-7691 from Perla to Puttur. At that time, the driver of a Jeep No. KL-13-5076 drove the vehicle in a rash and negligent manner and dashed to their motor cycle due which Sameer and his friend sustained grievous injuries. At first the case was registered in Badiyadka Police Station and as the place of occurrence belonged to Karnataka state, it has now been transferred to Vittla Police Station.

  • A case of Cheating has been registered in Konaje Police Station relating to providing of false information in obtaining a house loan and non payment of the same. The alleged incident has occured in the month of Jan 05 where in one Moideen Haider took a house loan of Rs.3,15,000/ from Syndicate Bank Deralakatte branch. Later when he failed to repay the loan amount as agreed upon in instalments, the bank officials went for inspection and found that the construction site does not belong to him at all. Accordingly now they have lodged this complaint against Moideen Haider, G.V. Kamath the guarantor and Prakash Rao the Engineer who had certified the plans...etc.

One Abdul Nazeer who was working with them has given a complaint alleging that on 19/07/2006 at 1030 hrs near Bejai Mangalore, he was forcefully restrained by the accused in a room and was assaulted as well. The accused suspected that Abdul Nazeer was in the habit of stealing fuel from the vehicle and due to this grudge they have committed this offence.

Video Conference Between Dakshina Kannada And Udupi Districts

On the evening of 19/0706, video conferencing was done between the DK and Udupi District Administrations in the offices of respective SPs. Besides DC DK Mr.Maheshwar Rao, SPDK Mr.B.Dayananda, DC Udupi Mr.Ponnuraj, SP Udupi Dr.A.S.Rao and ASP Udupi Mr.Satish Kumar, the RTOs of both disricts participated in the conference.

The conference was held to discuss about the revision of bus fares of the private bus operators of both districts. Prior to this, both districts had held RTA (Road Transport Authority) meetings in their respective district head quarters and had consulted the members of the public and also the various bus operators.

As such large number of private buses operate between Mangalore and Udupi cities. Hence any fare hike or fixation of bus fare has to be common for both districts. Hence this conference was held to elicit views of both district oficers regarding the fare hike and come to cartain conclusion.

After discussing the various aspects pertaining to the issue, both RTOs have been asked to work out the rates based on certain parameters agreed upon during the meeting. After this exercise, final dicision will be taken. This may take few days.

On 18-07-2006 at 1615 hrs one Ganapathi, the driver of the Petrol Tanker KA-01-B-6176 parked his vehicle near Cargo Gate, Pavana Complex, Bala Village, Mangalore Taluk. However he forgot to switch off the engine. As a result the tanker moved ahead accidentally and rammed into a Tata Sumo, a Motocycle & a shop and caused damages to the tune of Rs.1,25,000/.

On 18-07-2006 at 1300 hrs near RTO Check Post on NH-17 at Talapady Village, one Sadashiva drove his motorcyle No. KA-19-S-3521 in rash and negligent manner and dashed to one Kum. Marimath Safvana (10) a pedestrian and caused her grievous injuries.

  • A case of Non Fatal Road accident has been registered in Kavoor Police Station. On 18-07-2006 at 1340 hrs near I.B.P. Petrol Pump, Mangalore, the driver of an auto rickshaw drove the vehicle in rash and negligent manner and hit a bus coming from the other direction. As a result one Rafiq passenger of the bus sustained grievous injuries on his hand.

On 18-07-2006 at 0530 hrs near Thumbya Junction Bantwal, some 7-8 unknown persons forming into an unlawful assembly stopped the Lorry KA-20-A-816 and dragged out the inmates Ashraf and Umar and assaulted them with sticks and caused injuries. Suspicion of illegal cattle transport by the victims is the motive for the offence.

On 16-07-2006 at 1630 hrs near Sarve Village Puttur taluk accused Ramakrishna Rai and Abishek entered the paddy field of complainant Srinivasa Rai and assaulted him and his brother Vishwanath with sticks and caused them injuries. The alleged incident has occured in a rented house in front of Little School Urva Church Mangalore where in one Raveesh was staying with another Drivil R Patel. On 17-07-2006 at 2330 hrs while they were watching TV dispute started regarding TV channels and Raveesh assaulted Drivil R Patel with a knife and caused greivous injuries to him.

On 16-07-2006 at 1705 hrs near Kudpadi, Amttadi Village, one Mr. Hariprasad drove his scooter in rash and negligent manner by which he lost the balance and fell down the hill along with his daughter Kum. Sahana (11) due which both sustained greivous injuries. While undergoing treatement Kum. Sahana succumbed to the injuries sustained.

    • A case of Fatal Road accident has been registered in Uppinangady Police Station. On 16-07-2006 at 1300 hrs near Nirukatte, NH48, Bajathuru Village, the driver of Lorry KA-53-470 drove the vehicle in rash and negligent manner due which the cleaner of the lorry Mr. Manjunath sitting inside the lorry was thrown out. While undegoing treatment in the hospital he died of injuries.

    Police Seek Information On Murder Suspect

    On 08 July, 06 one Ms Vidya Rani 27 yrs was found murdered in a rented house at Mundana locality of Mangalore East PS limits. In this connection a case of murder was taken up in Mangalore East PS on the same day.
    During the course of investigation, police found that the house in which the victim was murdered was taken on rent by one Laxmana with whom the deceased was quite friendly. He however went missing right from the day of this offence. Efforts are being made to trace him.
