In the month of March some unknown culprits gained entry into the Air-conditioner shop belonging to one Lakshmipath Nahata (42) R/o Bunder Mangalore and committed theft of 6 Air conditioners, 4 Voltage Stabilizer and other articles. The stolen property is worth Rs. 1,15,000/.

• A case under House trespass, Outraging the modesty of women along with Hurt has been registered in Bantwal Rural Police Station. On 12/05/2007 at 1930 hrs accused one Vasu Poojary criminally trespassed into the house of one Janaki (38) R/o Agardabailu Kadabettu village Bantwal Taluk and abused her in filthy language and outraged her modesty by pulling her dress and also assaulted her by hand owing to trivial issue.

• A case of Fatal Road accident has been registered in Mulki Police Station. On 13/05/2007 at 1630 hrs at Patreguttu Karnire village Mangalore Taluk one Chandrahasa rider of motorcycle bearing Reg. No. KA-20-J-3736 drove his vehicle in a rash and negligent manner and dashed against one Appi Poojarthi (80) R/o Karnire village Mangalore Taluk a pedestrian and caused her grievous injuries. Further she succumbed to her injuries while on way to hospital.
  
• A case of Fatal Road accident has been registered in Mangalore Rural Police Station. On 13/05/2007 at 1215 hrs on NH-48 at Kannuru village Mangalore Taluk one unknown driver of Swarj Mazda lorry bearing Reg. No. KA-19-AE-7866 drove his vehicle in a rash and negligent manner and dashed against a motorcycle bearing Reg. No. KA-19-V-2843 from behind. As a result one Abubakkar rider said motorcycle sustained serious injuries. Further he was admitted to hospital at Mangalore where he succumbed to his injuries while under treatment on the same at 1755 hrs. The lorry driver escaped from the place without stopping his vehicle.

• A case of Non Fatal Road accident has been registered in Mangalore East Police Station. On 12/05/2007 at 2000 hrs at Bikarnakatte Mangalore one unknown rider of Bajaj M-80 Scooter bearing Reg. No. KA-19-H-5053 drove his vehicle in a rash and negligent manner and dashed against one Manjunatha a pedestrian and caused him simple injuries. The Bajaj M-80 scooter rider escaped from the place without stopping his vehicle.

• A case of Man missing has been registered in Kadaba Police Station. One Vishwanatha Shetty (33) R/o Muliya Kuturppady village Puttur Taluk left his house on 11/04/2007 at 1400 hrs and did not return to his there after. He has been found missing since then.

On 12/05/2007 at 1700 hrs accused Chandrashekara and Mohana criminally trespassed into the house belonging to one Vijayalakshmai (44) R/o Belthangady Taluk and abused her in filthy language and tried to outrage her modesty by pulling her hand and assaulted her with sickle and also gave life threat to her. Motive seems to be civil dispute between them.
  
• A case under Kidnapping with intent secretly and wrongfully to confine person, Outraging the modesty of woman along with Criminal intimidation has been registered in Uppinangady Police Station. On 07/05/2007 at 1500 hrs at bus stand at Uppinangady Puttur Taluk while one lady (30) R/o Uppinangady Puttur was on her way home accused one Moosa @ Kharkane Moosa kidnapped her in his car and wrongfully confined her in a room and outraged her modesty. Further he also gave life threat to her.

No. KA-19-B-4385 drove his vehicle in backward direction in rash and negligent manner and dashed against one Jayaram (57) a Junior Engineer of NMPT while he was on duty on Berth 3 at NMPT Harbour Mangalore due which Jayaram got serious injuries and died on the spot.
  
• A case of Fatal Road accident has been registered in Uppinangady Police Station. On 11/05/2007 at 2030 hrs at Periyadka Bajathuru village one Mohammad Kunhi rider of motorcycle bearing Reg. No. KA-21-E-4948 drove his vehicle in a rash and negligent manner and dashed against another motorcycle bearing Reg. No. KA-21-J-756. As a result Monappa Acharya (57) R/o Ramanagara Uppinangady rider of motorcycle bearing Reg. No. KA-21-J-756, Mohammed Kunnhi rider of motorcycle bearing Reg. No. KA-21-E-4948 sustained grievous injuries and Sudesh Acharya (18) R/o Ramanagara Uppinangady pillion rider of motorcycle bearing Reg. No KA-21-J-756 sustained simple injuries. Further Monappa Acharya succumbed to his injuries while on the way to hospital.

Wooden logs seized by Bantwal Rural Police

On 11/05/2007 at 1930 hrs PSI Bantwal Rural along with his staff on credible information intercepted a Tempo bearing Reg. No. KA-20-1963 at Kotekani Sajipanadu village Bantwal Taluk and seized 28 wooden logs that were being transported illegally by arresting one Bhasir (31) R/o Kolake Sajipanadu village Bantwal Taluk driver of the said Tempo. The Tempo has also been seized.

The total value of property seized is worth Rs. 1,60,000/.

In this connection, a case has been registered in Bantwal Rural Police Station under the Karnataka Forest Act.

• A case of MV Theft has been registered in Mangalore North Police Station. On 10/05/2007 at 0900 hrs PI Mangalore North PS apprehended one Abdul Yunus (19) R/o Payyangadi Kannuru Kasaragod Kerala State who was found moving suspiciously on a motorcycle bearing Reg. No. KL-13-M-6205 at Hampankatte Mangalore. On enquiry it was learnt that the said motorcycle has been stolen somewhere else along with Elias R/o Manjeshwara Kasaragod. However pillion rider of said motorcycle Elias managed to escape from the place. Accordingly a case was registered in Mangalore North PS.

On 10/05/2007 at 1430 hrs one Rohini (18) R/o Bannur village Puttur Taluk consumed poison owing to personal problem. Further she was admitted to hospital at Puttur where she was declared dead while under treatment.
  
• A case of Unnatural Death Report has been registered in Belthangady Police Station. On 09/05/2007 at 1830 hrs in bus stand at Ujire village Belthangady Taluk one Rajashekarayya (50) Kanakapura Bangalore developed chest pain and died on the spot.
  
• A case of Unnatural Death Report has been registered in Subramanya Police Station. On 10/05/2007 at 1500 hrs one Ganapayya Gowda (70) R/o Balpa village Sullia Taluk while walking at Parvathamukha Sullia Taluk developed chest pain and fell down and died on the spot.

On the night of 08-09/05/2007 one Ramachandra (50) R/o Panathil Kanakamajalu village Sullia Taluk got seriously injured while working at Desakodi Markanja village Sullia Taluk. Further he was admitted to hospital at Mangalore where he succumbed to his injuries while under treatment on 10/05/2007 at 0450 hrs.

Gambling Raid: Five Arrested, Rs 2, 505 seized by Bantwal Police

On 09/05/2007 at 1615 hrs PSI Bantwal Rural PS along with his staff on specific information conducted raid at an open place at Bhandasale Kuriyala village Bantwal Taluk. At the time of raid Police found 06 persons playing “Ander - Bahar” with cards. Police seized cash Rs. 2,505/ and playing cards from the spot by arresting Wincent Fernandez, Krishnappa Poojary, Anil D’Souza, Praveen D’Souza and Gopala who were indulging in gambling.

In this connection, a case has been registered against the arrested persons in Bantwal Rural PS U/s 87 of the Karnataka Police Act.

West African Citizen Arrested For Not Possessing Valid Travel Documents

One West African Citizen has been arrested on 08/05/2007 by Mangalore South Police Station for not possessing valid Passport, Visa or Registration Card etc. He has been booked under the Foreigners Act vide Mangalore South Police Station Cr.No.116/2007.

The name of the person arrested is:

Mr. Tony Wilson (28) R/o Braus Street Layout Republic West Africa Continent.

The person was found staying at Universal Lodge at Azizuddin Road Mangalore.The accused has been produced before the Jurisdictional Judicial Magistrate on 08/05/2007 and has been remanded for judicial custody.

On 09/08/05/2007 at 1215 hrs on NH 17 at Kulai village Mangalore Taluk one Mohammed driver of mini Lorry bearing Reg. No. CRX-7866 drove his vehicle in a rash and negligent manner and dashed against a Scooter bearing Reg. No. CRX-7966. No. KA-06-C-2727 drove his vehicle in a rash and negligent manner and dashed against a motorcycle bearing Reg. No. KA-21-J-3700. • A case of Fatal Road accident has been registered in Urwa Police Station. On 06/12/2007 at 1745 hrs at Urwa junction Mangalore one Abdul Rahman K. driver of Maruti Alto car bearing Reg. No. KA-19-P-7919 drove his vehicle in a rash and negligent manner and dashed one John T. (60) R/o Ashokanagara Mangalore a pedestrian and caused him grievous injuries. Further he was admitted to hospital at Mangalore where he succumbed to his injuries while under treatment on 07/05/2007 at 1100 hrs.

No. KA-19-A-9367 drove his vehicle in a rash and negligent manner and dashed against a motorcycle bearing Reg. No. KA-19-K-2867. As a result motorcycle rider Ramesh Anchan and pillion rider Harishchandra sustained grievous injuries and both died on the spot.

• A case of Non Fatal Road accident has been registered in Mulki Police Station. On 06/05/2007 at 1830 hrs at Koikude cross Kemral village Mangalore Taluk one driver of auto rickshaw bearing Reg. No. KA-19-A-5951 drove his vehicle in a rash and negligent manner and dashed against one Sheik Nasiruddin (38) a pedestrian and caused him simple injuries. Further auto rickshaw driver lost control over his vehicle and dashed against a car bearing Reg. No. KA-19-AB-4159 that was parked at roadside. As a result both vehicles got damaged.

As a result driver of jeep Naveen, Aisamma (50), Ayub Khan, Harisha, Thimmappa and Udaya who were traveling in the said jeep sustained grievous injuries. Further Aisamma succumbed to her injuries while on the way to hospital.

Gambling Raid: Four Arrested, Rs 258 / seized

On 04/05/2007 at 1700 hrs on credible information PI Sullia circle along with his staff conducted a raid at Tadakajekatte Bellare village Sullia Taluk and seized 5 cocks and cash Rs. 258/ by arresting Harishchandra (42) R/o Volamogaru village Puttur Taluk, Choma (40) R/o Bellare village Sullia Taluk, Duggappa (43) R/o Peruvaje village Sullia Taluk and Sudhakara (27) R/o Sullia Taluk who were indulged in betting on cock fighting.

In this connection, a case has been registered against the arrested persons in Sullia PS U/s 87 of the Karnataka Police Act.

On 05/05/2007 at 1330 hrs on specific information CPI Bantwal Circle along with staff conducted raid at open place near Arrack shop at Manchikatte Manchi village Bantwal Taluk. At the time of raid Police found 06 persons playing “Ander - Bahar” with cards. Police seized cash Rs. 1,260/, and playing cards from the spot by arresting Vittala Shetty, Poovappa Poojary, Janardhana, Sanjeeva, Ramesha Nayak and Balakrishna Naik who were indulging in gambling.

In this connection, a case has been registered against the arrested persons in Bantwal Rural PS U/s 87 of the Karnataka Police Act.

In the complaint it is alleged that on 01/05/2007 in between 1215 hrs and 1230 hrs Rakesh Kumar (60) and another person came to Kaira Jewellray belonging to one Preethesh Bhat located at Bharath Mall Bejai Mangalore and purchased 13 gold coins weighing 96 grams worth Rs. 91,620/ and by presenting a DD for the said amount. However later the shop keeper came to know that this DD of Dena Bank of Kaankanady branch dated 02/05/2007 ia a forged one.
