Kolnad Murder Case Detected: Two Arrested

The Mulki police have succeeded in solving the mystery behind the murder of an unknown male whose body was found on NH-17 at Kolnad on the intervening night of 30-31/12/2006. For details Click Here.
Upon detailed verification the deceased was identified as Shankar Pandian 23 yrs a driver from Tiruchinapalli of Tamil nadu state. The IO of the case Mr.Manjunath Shetty also ascertained that he was murdered on that night by three persons in a Tanker lorry carrying Bitumin from the MRPL. Two of them have been arrested and their names are:
  1. Gopal Thimmappa Naik R/o Siddapur Uttara Kannada dist. Driver of Tanker No KA-19-B-2605
  2. Dattatreya Ganapathi Hegde 23 yrs R/o Devakaru village Siddaput taluk Uttara Kannada district. Cleaner in the same tanker.

Another accused however is still at large.

The investigation by the police reveals that the three accused persons picked up quarrel with the deceased just outside the premise of MRPL on trivial issue and then made him to board the tanker with them. Enroute they strangulated him and threw the dead body near Kolnad on the Highway and escaped.

Both the accused arrested have been remanded for judicial custody.
