- On 17/11/2005, Sri.M.Laxman the Inspector General of Police Training visited Mangalore Police Training Center and reviewed the ongoing training activities here. During his visit, he interacted with the Women Constable Recruits who are undergoing training here. He also inspected the various training facilities in the District Armed Reserve for the recruits. Later he held meeting of the faculty of the training school and discussed about the various training activities imparted to the trainees so far.
The Temporary Police Training School D.K. District has started functioning at Mangalore since 07.03.1994 and so far 771 Civil police constables have undergone basic training (09 months) course in 07 batches as noted below.

The 8th batch of training for 140 newly recruited Women Constables of Gulbarga-58, Raichur-34, Gadag-31, Haveri-09, Koppal-09 commenced from 05.05.2005 and their training will complete on 05.02.2006.
Out of these 140 recruits,
03 recruits are Post graduates
04 recruits have done B.Ed.
78 recruits are graduates
11 recruits who are Graduates have also done Computer course.
03 recruits have done PUC with Computer course.
02 recruits have done PUCand TCH
01 recruit has done PUC and ITI
Rest 38 recruits are PUC holders.
Out of these 140 recruits, 111 recruits are below the age of 25 yrs and remaining 29 recruits are above 25 yrs of age and 28 recruits are married.
For Indoor training the services of local Inspectors and Dy.S.Ps are being utilized. Subjects like IPC, CrPC, Special & Local Laws, police Manual, Police Administration are taught by these experienced officers and other subjects like Psychology and Human Rights are being handled by Prof. Ashok, & Prof. Madhavan of Roshani Nilaya.
Apart from these routine subjects, the following specialized subjects are also being taught:
1. Forensic Science by Deputy Director Forensic Science Laboratory Mangalore
2. Hygiene/ Habits / First Aid by the team of Doctors from KMC Mangalore
3. Wireless communication by Wireless Inspector.
4. Lifting of Foot Prints & Finger prints at the scene of offence by the Finger Print experts.
5. Service Matters and KCS and KSP Rules by Asst Adm Officer DPO Mangalore & Sri Tanoji Rao Pawar Rtd. DTO/Vice Prinicipal District Training Inistitute Mangalore.
6. Narcotic Drug laws by PI Narcotic Drug Cell COD Mangalore.
7. Disaster Management by Dy. Commandant Home Guards.
8. Lecture and demonstration regarding fire fighting by Fire Force Inspectors.
9. Guest Lecture from KGID Authority.
10. Guest Lectures from Prajna & Santhwana.
For Out door training the services of two Head Constables, four Constables as ADIs, one RSI as ACDI and one RPI as CDI are being utilised and the following subjects are taught:
1. Physical Training.
2. Obstacles - (Rope climbing, Zig Zag running, Wall climbing, Cross country race)
3. Foot Drill
4. Arms Drill - (Handling of all kinds of weapons like Rifle, Pistol, Revolver, Sten/ carbine, LMG)
5. Lathi Drill - (Mob operation and crowd control)
6. Tear Gas Training.
7. Karate
8. Swimming.
9. Yoga
The Training School which is part of the District Police is being run under the overall supervision of Supdt of Police Dakshina Kannada District. Additional Supdt of Police is acting as the Principal and the Deputy Supdt of Police District Crime Records Bureau is the Vice Principal.
