A one day workshop / discussion programme on the subject of “Crime Among Youth” has been organized jointly by D.K. Police and Roshni Nilaya (Department of Criminology school of Social work Mangalore) on 18/02/06 at Roshni Nilaya Mangalore. Nearly about 150 students of various colleges of Mangalore will be participating in the workshop besides Police officers of all ranks, academicians, journalists and other eminent citizen of Mangalore. The workshop has been organized with a view to elicit the perceptions of different sections of the society regarding the latest trend of more and more youth taking to crime. Various dimensions of this problem will be deliberated upon and views of the participants on the remedial measures sought.
The programme will be inaugurated by SPDK Mr. B. Dayananda at 9.30 am and Principal school of social work Dr. (MS) Jacinta D’Souza with preside over this inaugural function. After this brief inaugural session, resource persons chosen from different fields will present their views on the subject and identify the main areas of concern that need to be addressed by the delegates. Later, the participants will be divided into different groups and given a topic each for discussion and formulation of opinions.
At the end of this group discussion, valedictory function will be held in which Inspector General of Police Western range Mangalore Mr. K.S. Suresh Babu IPS will participate as chief guest. The reports of the various groups will be placed before the guests and final conclusions reached.
On the same occasion, Certificates will be issued by the Police department to all 28 students who participated in the recently held ‘Civilian Rifle Training Course’ by D.K. Police.
All members of the press and electronic media are welcome to witness the proceedings of the workshop.
