Fake Currency Siezed In Vittal




On 01-03-2006 at about 1730 hrs Vittal police headed by PSI Balachandre Gowda, acting on a tip off intercepted a motor cycle No. KA-19-U-6953 Hero Honda Splendor at Ukkuda Check Post under Vittal Police Station Limits. On questioning the driver Abdul Latif aged 47 yrs of Idkidu village, he confessed to the possession of about one lakh worth of Fake Currency notes with him, all of 500 denomination. The police team seized the material immediately and on confirmation took the accused into custody. A case has been taken up under Vittal PS Cr. No. 19/06 u/s 489 (b) (c) of IPC, and the case is under investigation. The exact source of the counterfeit currency and details regarding any of this currency already put into circulation and other details are to be probed into and a special team headed by CPI Bantwal has been formed to conduct the investigation. The currency notes recovered are of "5CC" series ranging between 935959 and 938590.
