On 23-03-2006 noon, Sri. Vinay A .Goankar Police Inspector Mangalore North Police Station and i/c Anti Rowdy Squad Mangalore along with staff of Anti Rowdy Squad nabbed a person and seized from his posession a revolver held without license near President Hotel Maidan Road Mangalore.The name of the person being;
A.J. Mathai @ Mani (44) S/o A.M. John , R/o Bangeradka House , Arasinamakki Post , Shibaje Village , Belthangady Taluk .
During the course of interrogation he confessed that he is doing agricultural work at Shibaje. About four years back he had purchased this revolver for Rs 3,500/ from a black smith at Udane for self defence as he was involved in timber trade at that time and used to carry large amount of cash. As he has recently stopped timber business, he came to Mangalore to sell it off...etc. In this connection a case has been registred against A.J. Mathai in Mangalore North PS and is under investigation. The accused has been produced before JMFC IInd Court Mangalore and has been remanded to Judicial Custody till 24-03-2006.
