The D.K District Police with long years of professional police experience has got its own standing in the history of Karnataka State Police. In this communally hyper sensitive District, the police are always on their toes to maintain peace and tranquility, combat underworld activities and maintain general law and order.
In performing such challenging tasks, the D.K District Police has always looked for proper cooperation and support from the public and mainly from the media. To achieve this, regular press conferences are arranged with the media to share and exchange information and ideas. Besides Press notes are being released whenever any important incident occurs or police operation is done. Moreover, in the District Control Room, a separate telephone has been kept to provide information on routine reported crime matters to the press round the clock.
In order to further strengthen this bond with the press, DK Police has come up with the novel idea of using the information technology to reach out to the press and public at the same time. A new web log (blog) has been created on the internet having URL http://spdk.blogspot.com. In this weblog, all important matters relating to the District Police will be regularly posted which can be easily accessed by the media people. By this, authentic, accurate and official information of the department can be given to the press swiftly.
Besides press, even intrested public can also directly access this weblog on the net and get authentic information pertaining to the police department freely. Though the blog is in english, Kannada interface has also been provided. In order to view the clippings that are in Kannada, one has to download the kannada fonts by following the link provided on the rightside of the blog and install in their computer. This is a very easy and simple process that will take only minutes to complete.
In this blog, in addition to news clippingas there is provision to paste photos as well. However as these photos can not be used by the press for printing, a separate link has been provided that will take them to an online album from where high resolution and print quality photos can be directly downloaded. These can be used by any press for publishing in their newspapers.
This innovative idea that has been introduced in the district is first of its kind in the state. The idea however is in keeping with the policy of Karnataka State Government that has instructed all departments to introduce E-Governance in their day to day administration to the maximum extent.
Hence the media is requested to make use of this facility to a large extent in the future to communicate with the department. Any suggessitions/ queries..etc are most welcome. Infact provision has been made for such suggestions to be given by anybody on the blog itslef.
Further the Dy SP DCRB working in the office of the Supdt of Police has been nominated as the Public Relation Officer ( PRO) of D.K District Police. He can be contacted for any official calrifications to be given to the media in the event of SP/AdlSP being not available. Similarly SDPO Puttur has been nominated as PRO for Puttur Subdivision. He can be contacted for any details pertaining to Puttur subdivision.
