PUTTUR MOBILE PHONE THEFT DETECTED

A case of mobile phone theft that was reported from Puttur town in the month of Oct 2005 wide Cr. No. 183/05 u/s 457, 380 of IPC wherein 3 mobile phones and mobile phone currency amounting to Rs.24,000/- were stolen from a mobile store, has been detected with the arrest of the main suspect and accused Ashraf @ Mohammad Ashraf of Salmara Puttur. The movements of the suspect were being tracked since a long time and his location was finally zeroed on 27th Nov 2005 at Kottayam, Kerala and a special police team nabbed him immediately. After a detailed interrogation 7 mobile phones and mobile currency amounting to Rs.2000/- were recovered from Kottayam and Kasaragod where the accused tried to dispose off the property. Based on his additional information one of his associates from Kasaragod is to be nabbed from whom further recovery of property is expected. The accused is a known offender in various property offences in and around Puttur and is now in judicial custody. The case is under investigation.
