Draft Notification Promulgated To Regulate Live Bands In DK District: Public Objections Called

In Dakshina Kannada District, as on now 13 live bands are operating. Of these, 05 live bands are in Mangalore City and the remaining are in Ullal, Thokkotu, Surathkkal and Bajpe areas of Panambur Subdivision. Hitherto these live bands have been operating without any form of licence from the District administration as no such license was required under the law.

Now, it is being proposed to regulate the operation of these live bands through an enactment under the Karnataka Police Act by the District Magistrate D.K District. A Draft Notification in this regard has been prepared and published in the official Gazette dated 23-03-2006. As per procedure laid out in the Karnataka Police Act, 30 days time has to be given for any objections to be received from the public regarding the proposed enactment. Hence an opportunity is being given to persons interested to represent their suggestions/objections regarding the enactment of the District Magistrate on or before 22-04-2006. After this date, any objections received will be perused and final notification will be promulgated after taking due consent from the Government of Karnataka.

This enactment is being done on the lines of similar order passed by Police Commissioner, Bangalore city to regulate the live bands of Bangalore.
