The CPI Belthangady Y.GangiReddy along with his team comprising of PSI Ramakrishna and men on receiving information on friday, 6 Jan evening that a few persons have been mining for ruby stones at the Malnad Estate in Neriya village of Belthangady taluk, immediatly rushed to the spot and made random searches on vehicles. About 20Kgs.and 30Kgs. of ruby stones respectively were recovered from two vehicles, one a Maruti Omni bearing reg. no.KA-03P 3611 and a Toyota Qualis bearing reg. no. KA-25A 8263. The total value of the material is nearly Rs 3,44,000/.Four persons have been arrested in this regard on the charges of tresspass and theft and a case has been registered under Belthangady PS Cr. no. 07/06, U/S 447,379 IPC and the case is under investigation.
