Disrict Armed Reserve Personnel volunteer as Reserve Blood Donors

The 303 Police Personnel working in the District Armed Reserve have been identified as voluntary blood donors from the Police department to be made use of during any emergent need of blood in the District (Wenlock) Hospital. The blood grouping of all these personnel has been done and the list has been given to the District Surgeon. The same list will also be maintained in the Mangalore Police Control Room and the DAR duty office. In case of any emergency and dire need of blood to any patient admited, the Hospital can contact the Control Room/DAR and indicate the blood group required. The concerned police man will be intmated and sent to the Hospital for providing the blood.
This arrangement has been done on the request of the District Surgeon to SPDK. With this, the Hospital will have reliable pool of donors available round the clock and who can be contacted swiftly with the help of police communication in case of any extreme emergency. However these men are to be used as "backup" after exhausting the other sources of availibility of blood by the hospital authorities like the blood bank and other voluntary donors. They can also be used when any rare group (available within this list) is required.
The breakup of number of persons according to the blood group:
  1. O+ve - 04
  2. O-ve - 129
  3. A+ve - 65
  4. A-ve - 02
  5. B+ve - 83
  6. B-ve - 05
  7. AB+ve - 15
