Spaniard Death Case: Four Arrested

Four persons have been arrested in connection with the death of Spaniard Francisco Alberto Belil (24) R/o Madrid Spain whose skeletal remains were discovered by the police on 13/03/2007 from the interior forest area of Belthangady taluk. In this connection a case of Death under suspicious circumstances was registered and ASP Puttur Dr.P.S.Harsha was assigned with the investigation.

After preliminary investigation, it has now been established that the deceased was actually hacked to death by four persons. Viz:

1. Shekhar Naik (34) R/o Kenchalgadde Charmadi village Belthangady taluk

2. Prasad Naik (26) R/o Kenchalgadde Charmadi village Belthangady taluk

3. Taranath (20) R/o Kadirudyavara village Belthangady taluk

4. Ananda Naik (28) Kenchalgadde Charmadi village Belthangady taluk

These persons had initially assisted the Spanish adventurist in setting up a camp in the forest area near Charmadi village of Belthangady taluk. Later however, they all conspired together to loot the foreigner of all his valuables and cash and accordingly they went to the forest where the Spaniard had set up the camp and confronted him. When he refused to part with the money, they assaulted him with stone on the head due which he collapsed there itself. Then the accused lifted his body and hanged to a small tree to make it appear as if he has committed suicide. They further took all his articles and cash and returned from there quitely.

All the four have been arrested today morning (19/03/2007) from their villages and certain articles like a tape recorder, audio cassettes, mobile phone, tent articles...etc belonging to the deceased and looted by the accused have been recovered from them. Their further interrogation is still continued.

They will be produced before the jurisdictional judicial Magistrate after completion of this interrogation.

The said Ramesha was seriously injured due to the negligence of operator of cement mixing machine one Ramanna on 02/03/2007 at 1800 hrs at Malemar Derebail village Mangalore Taluk and admitted to the Hospital. In this connection a case has already been registered in Kavoor Police Station.

• A case of Unnatural Death Report has been registered in Mangalore South Police Station. One Archana (19) R/o Hoige Bazar Mangalore committed suicide by hanging in her house on 17/03/2007 at 1400 hrs owing to personal problem.
  
• A case of Unnatural Death Report has been registered in Moodabidre Police Station. In between 16/03/2007 at 1900 hrs and 17/03/2007 at 0900 hrs one Eliza Shanthees (75) R/o Niddodi village Mangalore Taluk committed suicide by hanging in his house owing to personal problem.
  
• A case of Unnatural Death Report has been registered in Bantwal Town Police Station. On 06/03/2007 at 1700 hrs one Zainabhi (75) R/o Parliya house Bantwal Town sustained serious burn injuries while trying to light stove in her house. Further she was admitted to Fr. Muller Hospital Mangalore where she succumbed to her injuries while under treatment on 16/03/2007 at 1025 hrs.

On the intervening night of 15-16/03/2007 some unknown culprits gained entry into the Pals communication at Karthik complex Ujire Belthangady Taluk belonging to one Sujith Prabhu M (28) R/o Kanyaadi Dhamasthala village by breaking the shutter lock and committed theft of mobile phones and other accessories all in worth Rs. 95,000/.
  
• A case under Burglary has been registered in Belthangady Police Station. On the intervening night of 15-16/03/2007 some unknown culprits gained entry into the house belonging to one Balakrishna K. Acharya R/o Shivakrupa house Shanthi nagara Ujire village Belthangady Taluk by breaking the front door lock and committed theft of gold ornaments and cash Rs. 8,000/ all in worth Rs. 38, 000/.

Further he was admitted to Wenlock hospital where he was declared dead while under treatment on the same day.

• A case of Fatal Road accident has been registered in Ullal Police Station. On 15/03/2007 at 1545 hrs on NH 17 at Kolya Someshwara village Mangalore Taluk one Devadas driver of Lorry bearing Reg. No.KA-19-764 drove his vehicle in a rash and negligent manner and dashed against a Maruti omni van bearing Reg. No. KA-19-P-5058. As a result Naranappa Rai (52) driver of Maruti omni car and Rati J. Adapa (70) who was traveling in the said car sustained serious injuries and died on the spot. Further Bharati N. Rai (43) and Jayalakshmi S. Rai (50) who were traveling in the said Maruti omni van also sustained grievous injuries.

• A case of Non Fatal Road accident has been registered in Panambur Police Station. On 01/03/2007 at 0730 hrs on NH 17 at Panambur Mangalore one Mohammed Basheer rider of motorcycle bearing Reg. No. KA-19-U-3388 drove his vehicle in a rash and negligent manner and dashed against one Althaf (25) R/o Chokabettu Surathkal Mangalore a pedestrian and caused him simple injuries. The motorcycle rider escaped from the place without stopping his vehicle.
  
• A case of Non Fatal Road accident has been registered in Bajpe Police Station. On 09/03/2007 at 1900 hrs at Alayai gudde Mulooru village Mangalore Taluk one Mansoor driver of jeep bearing Reg. No. KA-M-6613 drove his vehicle in a rash and negligent manner and lost control over his vehicle due which jeep dashed against a mud wall. As result Abdul Basheer (25) R/o Gurupura Muloor village Mangalore Taluk and Hidayathulla who were traveling in the said jeep sustained simple injuries.

No. KA-21-9177 drove his vehicle in a rash and negligent manner and dashed against one Aravinda K (30) R/o Karkala Taluk Udupi district a pedestrian and caused him simple injuries. The motorcycle rider escaped from the place without stopping his vehicle.

On 15/03/2007 at 2030 hrs at Krishna Nagara Bantra village Puttur Taluk one Mohana (28) driver of auto rickshaw bearing Reg. No. KA-21-7082 drove his vehicle in a rash and negligent manner and dashed against another auto rickshaw bearing Reg. No. KA-21-8457 driven by one Abdul Rasheed (22) R/o Nekkilady village Puttur Taluk. Further driver of auto rickshaw bearing Reg. No. KA-21-7082 lost control over his vehicle due which auto rickshaw capsized. As a result Kariya Poojary, Muttappa, Navura, Bommi and Jaya Kumar who were traveling in the said auto rickshaw sustained grievous injuries.

• A case under Ordinary Theft has been registered in Kavoor Police Station. On 14/03/2007 at 1100 hrs PSI (Crime) Kavoor PS on his routine patrolling apprehended one Imran (19)R/o Rayikatte Kuloor Mangalore Taluk who was found in suspicious manner near Shri Dhurgaprasad jewelers at Kavoor junction Mangalore. On his personal search a gold chain of 6 grams was found in his possession. It is learnt that the gold chain has been stolen somewhere else. The seized gold chain is worth Rs. 5,000/.

The said Naveen was seriously injured by a motorcycle in a road traffic accident on 12/03/2007 at 2130 hrs at Ganeshbhag Kabaka village Puttur Taluk and admitted to the Hospital. • A case of Unnatural Death Report has been registered in Belthangady Police Station. On 13/03/2007 at 1230 hrs the skeletal remains of one Spain national Francisco Alberto Belil was found in the interior forest area of Bandaje Charmadi village Belthangady Taluk. The said Spaniard had come to this area in the month of June 06 and was staying in the forest area there with the help of some local villagers. There after he was found missing and in this connection a representation was received from the Spain Embassy. While enquiring this representation, police came to know that he had visited Charmadi village last year. The enquiries with the villagers led to the recovery of this skeleton. However the cause of death is still to be established. ASP Puttur has been asigned with the investigation.

On 04/03/2007 at 1100 hrs accused Dasappa Gowda, Umesha, Praveen, Narayana Gowda and Vishwanatha Acharya forming into an unlawful assembly at Punchapade Machina village and criminally trespassed into the land and assaulted Vasantha (32) R/o Machina village Belthangady Taluk and Venkappa with sword. They also assaulted one Padmanabha Gowda who came to help Vasantha with wooden stick owing to personal enmity.

(49) R/o Golithadi house Ramakunja village Puttur Taluk by breaking the door lock and committed theft of gold ornaments all in worth Rs.45,000.

• A case under Fatal Road accident has been registered in Uppinangady Police Station. On 02/03/2007 at 0930 hrs near Karaya school at Karaya village Belthangady Taluk one Pramod Kumar driver of Tata Indica car bearing Reg. No. KA-21-M-3617 drove his vehicle in a rash and negligent manner and dashed against an auto rickshaw bearing Reg. No. KA-21-5913 due to which thw auto rickshaw capsized. As a result one Kamala (52) who was traveling in the auto rickshaw sustained serious injuries and succumbed to her injures while on the way to hospital. Further Janardhana (33) R/o Karaya village Belthangady Taluk driver of auto rickshaw, Leela (35), Meenakshi (42), Ammu (38) and Rahman (36) who were traveling in the said auto rickshaw sustained simple injuries.

On 03/03/2007 at 2100 hrs on NH 17 at Nanthoor Padavu Mangalore one Mohammad Riyaz driver of Lorry bearing Reg. No. KL-11-V-1944 drove his vehicle in a rash and negligent manner and dashed against a motorcycle bearing Reg. No. KA-19-V-2872. As a result motorcycle rider Sundara Gowda sustained grievous injuries. Further pillion rider his wife Sathyavathi (36) R/o Padavinangdy Mangalore and their children Suhas and Shravya sustained simple injuries.

• A case of Non Fatal Road accident has been registered in Puttur Rural Police Station. On 04/03/2007 at 0130 hrs at Nanya Madnoor village Puttur Taluk one Krishnappa rider of motorcycle bearing Reg. No. KA-21-J-7441 drove his vehicle in a rash and negligent manner and lost control over his vehicle due which motorcycle capsized. On 03/03/2007 at 1830 hrs near water tank at Mithabagilu village accused Vinayachandra and other four persons forming into an unlawful assembly assaulted one Vasantha by hand. • A case of Unnatural Death Report has been registered in Moodabidre Police Station. One Raju Poojary (48) R/o Tharidapadpu Valpady village Moodabidre Mangalore taluk consumed poison on 01/03/2007 in between 2100 hrs and 2130 hrs in his house owing personal problem. Further he was admitted to Karkala Nursing home were he was declared dead while under treatment on the same day at 2245 hrs.
  
• A case of Unnatural Death Report has been registered in Panambur Police Station. On 02/03/2007 in between 1800 hrs and 1930 hrs one unknown person aged about 50 to 55 yrs accidentally fell down while walking near Panambur circle Mangalore and died on the spot.

• A case of Unnatural Death Report has been registered in Bantwal Rural Police Station. On the night of 01/03/2007 one unknown male aged 40 to 45 yrs committed suicide by hanging near Hanchikatte Kavalapadur village Bantwal Taluk owing to personal problem.
  
• A case of Unnatural Death Report has been registered in Sullia Police Station. On 02/03/2007 in between 1100 hrs and 1200 hrs one Venkamma (60) R/o Naganamajalu Pervaje village Sullia Taluk accidentally slipped into the river near her house and died due drowning.
  
• A case of Unnatural Death Report has been registered in Kavoor Police Station. One Rajesh (35) R/o Soojikallu Akashabhavan Mangalore consumed poison in his house on 02/03/2007. Further he was admitted to Wenlock hospital were he was declared dead while under treatment on the same day.
