The following are the crimes reported in D.K. District during the last 24 hrs as at 1600 hrs on 15/03/2007.

Ordinary Theft: 01
  • A case under Ordinary Theft has been registered in Kavoor Police Station. On 14/03/2007 at 1100 hrs PSI (Crime) Kavoor PS on his routine patrolling apprehended one Imran (19)R/o Rayikatte Kuloor Mangalore Taluk who was found in suspicious manner near Shri Dhurgaprasad jewelers at Kavoor junction Mangalore. On his personal search a gold chain of 6 grams was found in his possession. It is learnt that the gold chain has been stolen somewhere else. The seized gold chain is worth Rs. 5,000/.

Fatal: 02

  • A case of Fatal Road accident has been registered in Urwa Police Station where in one Vijaya Kumara Kanti (25) R/o Shivanagara Bidar district was declared dead while under treatment on 14/03/2007 at 0600 hrs. The said Vijaya Kumara Kanti was seriously injured by a motorcycle in a road traffic accident on 02/03/2007 at 0050 hrs at Hat hill Mangalore and admitted to the Hospital. In this connection a case has already been registered in Urwa Police Station.
  • A case of Fatal Road accident has been registered in Puttur Town Police Station where in one Naveen (21) R/o Nehru Nagar Kabaka village Puttur Taluk was declared dead while under treatment on 14/03/2007 at 1130 hrs. The said Naveen was seriously injured by a motorcycle in a road traffic accident on 12/03/2007 at 2130 hrs at Ganeshbhag Kabaka village Puttur Taluk and admitted to the Hospital. In this connection a case has already been registered in Puttur Town Police Station.

Non-Fatal: 01

  • A case of Non Fatal Road accident has been registered in Kavoor Police Station. On 14/03/2007 at 1130 hrs at NH-17 near Karnataka agency at Derebail Mangalore one Tharanath a Crane operator bearing Reg. No. KA-19-P-9631 moved his Crane in a rash and negligent manner and dashed against a motorcycle bearing Reg. No. KA-19-V-1772. As a result motorcycle rider Shashidhar (30) Kemmunje village Belthangady Taluk and pillion rider of said motorcycle Mahesh sustained grievous injuries.

Cheating/ Criminal Breach of Trust: 01

  • A case of Cheating along with Criminal breach of Trust has been registered in Barke Police Station where in accused one Edwin D’Souza R/o Embassy Plaza Pumpwell Mangalore produced the forged documents and took a loan of Rs. Rs. 4,00,000/ from Corporation Bank at Lalbhagh Mangalore and cheated the Bank by not making the payment.

  • A case under the Prevention of Immoral Traffic Act has been registered in Women Police Station. On 14/03/2007 at 1145 hrs ASI of Women Police Station on rounds arrested one Prema (35) w/o Krishna R/o Bajpe Mangalore who was found soliciting for prostitution near service bus stand at Mangalore.

Unnatural Death Report: 03

  • A case of Unnatural Death Report has been registered in Mangalore North Police Station. On the intervening night of 13-14/03/2007 hrs one Rajesh (55) R/o P&T colony Bangalore committed suicide by hanging in his room at Hotel Airlines Maidhan cross road Mangalore owing to personal problem.
  • A case of Unnatural Death Report has been registered in Mangalore South Police Station. In between 12/03/2007 at 1925 hrs and 14/03/2007 at 1030 hrs one Ramesh (54) R/o Bangalore committed suicide by consuming poison in his room at Maharaja Residency hotel Attavara Mangalore owing to personal problem.
  • A case of Unnatural Death Report has been registered in Puttur Rural Police Station. In between 13/03/2007 at 1500 hrs and 14/03/2007 at 1000 hrs one Ganesh Acharya R/o Balnadu village Puttur Taluk committed suicide by hanging in his house owing to personal problem.
