• A case of Burglary has been registered in Bantwal Rural Police Station. In between 28/10/2006 at 1330 hrs and 30/10/2006 at 0910 hrs some unknown culprits gained entry into the D.K.Z.P. Primary School at Kaje Manchi village Bantwal Taluk by breaking door lock and committed theft of Gas cylinders (02) and other items belonging to Akshara Dasoha Yojane all in worth Rs. 2,000/.

• A case of MV theft has been registered in Belthangady Police Station. In between 29/10/2006 at 2000 hrs and 30/10/2006 at 0330 hrs some unknown persons committed theft of a Maruti car bearing Reg. No. KA-12-M-5267 which was parked at the premise of Saketh Lodge Dharmasthala village Belthangady Taluk belonging to one Dinesh M.B. (40) R/o Kolagadalu village Madikeri Kodagu District. The car is worth Rs. 45,000/.

• A case of MV theft has been registered in Belthangady Police Station. On 30/10/2006 in between 0700 hrs and 0730 hrs some unknown persons committed theft of a Hero Honda Splendour motorcycle bearing Reg. No. KA-04-B-5036 which was parked at in front of Dharmasthala Temple at Belthangady Taluk belonging to one Ramesh Gowda (32) R/o Poovaje house Kokkaje village Belthangady Taluk. The motorcycle is worth Rs. 25,000/.

• A case of Fatal Road accident has been registered in Vittal Police Station where in one Prakunhi (58) R/o Samadka Karopady village Bantwal Taluk was declared dead while under treatment on 30/10/2006 at 2035 hrs. The said Prakunhi was seriously injured in a road traffic accident on 28/10/2006 at 2000 hrs at Samadka Karopady village Bantwal Taluk and admitted to Unity hospital Mangalore. In this connection a case was already registered in Vittal Police Station.

• A case of Non Fatal Road accident has been registered in Mangalore East Police Station. On 30/10/2006 at 1645 hrs near Second hand marketing at Tharethota Mangalore Taluk one Raju driver of Maruti omni bearing Reg. No. KA-19-M-6782 drove his vehicle in a rash and negligent manner and dashed against a motorcycle bearing Reg. No. KA-19-U-2616. As a result motorcycle rider Riyaz (28) R/o Krishnapura Surathkal Mangalore Taluk and pillion rider Farooq sustained simple injuries.

• A case of Non Fatal Road accident has been registered in Ullal Police Station. On 30/10/2006 at 0920 hrs at Mavinakatte Kotekar village Mangalore Taluk one Suresh driver of Lorry bearing Reg. No. KL-14-4121 drove his vehicle in a rash and negligent manner and dashed against one Zameer Ahammed R/o Asaigoli Manjanady village Mangalore Taluk a pedestrian and caused him grievous injuries.

• A case of Non Fatal Road accident has been registered in Ullal Police Station. On 30/10/2006 at 1415 hrs at Dharmanagara Ullal village Mangalore Taluk one Rajesh driver of Bus bearing Reg. No KA-19-4977 drove his vehicle in a rash and negligent manner due which one Mohammed (21) R/o Dharmanagara Ullal village Mangalore Taluk who was travelling in the said bus was thrown out of the bus and sustained simple injuries.

• A case of Non Fatal Road accident has been registered in Puttur Town Police Station. On 30/10/2006 at 0830 hrs at Shanthigodu Narimogaru village Puttur Taluk one driver of Jeep bearing Reg. No. KA-19-A-5763 drove his vehicle in a rash and negligent manner and dashed against a Bicycle. As a result Bicycle rider one Santhosh Kumar (19) R/o Shanthigodu village Puttur Taluk sustained simple injuries.

• A case of Non Fatal Road accident has been registered in Bantwal Town Police Station. On 28/10/2006 at 1130 hrs one unknown driver of KSRTC Volvo Bus bearing Reg. No. KA-19-F-8261 drove his vehicle in a rash and negligent manner and dashed against a motorcycle bearing Reg. No. KA-19-S-5426. As a result motor cycle rider K.S. Abdul Rahiman and pillion rider Abdul Khadhar sustained simple injures. The Bus driver escaped from the place without stopping his vehicle.

• A case under Criminal breach of Trust along with Cheating has been registered in Mangalore North Police Station. It is alleged in the complaint that accused Management of Design Nest shop at Trade Centre Bunts Hostel Mangalore committed criminal breach of trust to one Manohar (28) R/o Nerambottu house Bantwal Taluk by taking Rs. 10,000/ from him for a job at Design Nest Shop. On 30/10/2006 the company closed their office and cheated Manohar and other around 1,000 persons who had given Rs. 10,000/ each for job in said thw company by not offering the job to them.

On 30/10/2006 at 1430 hrs accused Mohammed R/o Dharmanagara Ullal and two other persons abused Rajesh (32) R/o Shivashakti Nagar Someshwara village Mangalore Taluk the driver of root No. 44A bus and Narayana Conductor of said bus and assaulted them by hand and also gave life threat to them owing to trivial issue.

• A case under Criminal restraint and Hurt has been registered in Belthangady Police Station. On 30/10/2006 at 1430 hrs accused Kishore criminally restrained one Ravi (32) R/o Somanthadka house Mundaje village Madikeri near Post office at Ujire Belthangady Taluk and abused him in filthy language and also assaulted him by hand owing to financial dispute.

• A case under Criminal trespass along with Criminal intimidation has been registered in Uppinangady Police Station. On 30/10/2006 at 1600 hrs accused Lokayya Gowda, Beermanna Gowda and Janardhana R/o Ashwathadi house Kalanja village Belthangady Taluk criminally trespassed into the land belonging to one Puttamma R/o Halekoyeela Kalanja village Belthangady Taluk and abused Puttamma, Gurunatha P.S. (33) R/o Nekkaraje house Bajathoor village Belthangady Taluk, Manjappa and Guruva in filthy language and gave life threat to them. The motive seems to be civil dispute between Putttamma and accused persons.

• A case under Criminal restraint along with Criminal intimidation has been registered in Konaje Police Station. On 30/10/2006 at 2000 hrs accused Riyaz Criminally restrained a motorcycle bearing Reg. No. KA-19-L-7257 at Deralakatte Belma village Managalore Taluk and abused the rider of said motor cycle Abdul Kareem (31) R/o Deralakatte Belma village Mangalore Taluk and pillion rider Moidin Kunhi in filthy language and gave life threat to him owing to trivial issue.

• A case of Unnatural Death Report has been registered in Moodabidre Police Station. One Harish Jain (40) R/o Kollangalu house Valpadi village was committed suicide by consuming poison in his house on 30/10/2006 in between 0700 hrs and 1000 hrs owing to personal problem.

• A case of Unnatural Death Report has been registered in Vittal police Station. On 29/10/2006 at 1900 hrs one Keshava Das (38) R/o Nerlaje house Idkidu village accidentally fell into the pond while walking near his house and died due drowning.

• A case of Unnatural Death Report has been registered in Mulky Police Station. One Selvi (04) D/o Chennaswami R/o Ikala village Mangalore Taluk accidentally fell into the pit while playing near her house and got serious injuries. She was admitted to Wenlock hospital Mangalore and while on treatment she was declared dead on 29/10/2006 at 1730 hrs.

• A case of Unnatural Death Report has been registered in Bantwal Rural Police station. In between 29/10/2006 at 0900 hrs and 30/10/2006 at 0700 hrs one Raja(30) R/o Rayee village Bantwal Taluk committed suicide by hanging near his house owing to health problem.

In between 28/10/2006 at 0100 hrs and 29/10/2006 at 0800 hrs some unknown culprits committed theft of Copper cable drums (02 No) which was kept at the premise of the Kinnigoli Telephone Exchange at Talpady village Mangalore Taluk. The total worth of stolen property is about Rs. 88,184/.

• A case of Fatal Road accident has been registered in Puttur Town Police Station. On 29/10/2006 at 1830 hrs at Manjalpadpu Kabaka village Puttur Taluk one Keshava (35) R/o Shera house Kodippadi village Puttur Taluk rider of motorcycle bearing Reg. No. KA-19-J-2344 drove his vehicle in a rash and negligent manner and dashed against another motorcycle bearing Reg. No. KA-21-J-5281 driven by one Adarsha Hegde (22) R/o Samethadka house Puttur Taluk. As a result Keshava (35) rider of motorcycle bearing Reg. No. KA-19-J-2344 and pillion rider Krishnappa sustained serious injuries. Further, Krishnappa succumbed to his injuries on the way to hospital.

• A case of Non Fatal Road accident has been registered in Mangalore East Police Station. On 29/10/2006 at 1830 hrs at Arya Samaj Cross road Mangalore one Zafar driver of Fiat car bearing Reg. No. CKE-7474 drove his vehicle in a rash and negligent manner and dashed against a motorcycle bearing Reg. No. KA-19-S-2017. As a result motorcycle rider Yogish (32) R/o Yeyyadi Industrial Estate Padav village Mangalore Taluk and pillion rider Pushparaj sustained simple injuries.

No. KA-19-N-4723 drove his vehicle in a rash and negligent manner and dashed against one Nawaf S/o Rafiq R/o Ilanthila village Belthangady Taluk a pedestrian and caused him grievous injuries.

On 25/10/2006 at 1100 hrs near Kapikad Ullal village Mangalore Taluk one Dolphy D’Souza rider of motorcycle bearing Reg. No. KA-19-E-3650 drove his vehicle in a rash and negligent manner and dashed against one Susheela (55) R/o Gopi compound Ullal village Mangalore Taluk a pedestrian and caused her grievous injuries.

As a result pillion rider of said motorcycle one Chandrashekar (34) R/o Kolya Someshwara village Mangalore Taluk sustained grievous injuries.

As a result motorcycle rider one Gangadhara Gowda (39) R/o Charmadi village Belthangady Taluk sustained simple injuries.

No. KA-19-R-2998 which was parked near Nataraja complex at Moodabidre and belonged to one Kirthiraj Shetty (32) R/o Shanthi House R.F.O. Road, Moodabidre . The motorcycle is worth Rs. 35,000/.

• A case of Fatal Road accident has been registered in Uppinangadi Police Station. On 29/10/2006 at 1330 hrs on NH 48 at Banabettu Biliyaru village Bantwala Taluk one unknown driver of Lorry bearing Reg. No. KA-44-847 drove his vehicle in a rash and negligent manner and dashed against a scooter bearing Reg. No. CTX-7084. As a result scooter rider Poovappa Gowda (37) R/o Ajirmane Barya village Bantwala Taluk and pillion rider Divakar sustained grievous injuries. Further, Poovappa Gowda succumbed to his injuries on the way to hospital.

• A case of Non Fatal Road accident has been registered in Mangalore East Police Station. On 28/10/2006 at 1845 hrs near Karavali Circle Mangalore one Kashmir Pinto driver of KSRTC Bus bearing Reg. No. KA-06-F-0201 drove his vehicle in a rash and negligent manner due which one Phelomina D’Souza (50) w/o Alphonzo D’Souza R/o Netharakere house Kallige Bantwal Taluk who was travelling in the said bus was thrown out of the bus and sustained grievous injuries.

• A case of Non Fatal Road accident has been registered in Mangalore East Police Station. On 28/10/2006 at 1530 hrs near Nanthoor Bus Stop of Mangalore one unknown rider of motorcycle bearing Reg. No. KA-19-7584 drove his vehicle in a rash and negligent manner and dashed against one Abdul Karim (42) R/o Krishnapura Surathkal Mangalore Taluk a pedestrian and caused him simple injuries. The motorcycle rider escaped from the place without stopping his vehicle.

• A case of Non Fatal Road accident has been registered in Belthangady Police Station. On 28/10/2006 at 0745 hrs at Charmadi Belthangady Taluk one Babu Naik driver of a Bus bearing Reg. No. KA-19-AE-5555 drove his vehicle in a rash and negligent manner and dashed against a KSRTC Bus bearing Reg. No. KA-19-F-1363 driven by one Sathish P. (29) due which the KSRTC bus got damaged. On 26/10/2006 at 2200 hrs accused Babu Gowda and his son Harish criminally restrained one Suresha (29) R/o Thotathadi village near his house and abused him in filthy language and assaulted with sickle and also gave life threat to him owing to trivial issue.

• A case under Criminal restraint, Criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty, and Hurt along with Criminal intimidation has been registered in Puttur Rural Police Station. On 18/10/2006 at 1800 hrs accused driver of car bearing Reg. No. KA-19-M-1143 stopped KSRTC Bus bearing Reg. No. KA-19-F-2071 at Kallarpe Aryapu village Puttur Taluk and dragged one Vijaya Kumar (40) the driver of said bus and abused him in filthy language and also gave life threat to him owing to overtaking of the bus.

On 17/10/2006 at 1215 hrs accused Devi Prasad Shetty, Raghunatha and Manoj criminally restrained and abused one Jeevan Prakash (19) R/o Kallakatte house Megina Pete in filthy language and assaulted him with iron rod and also gave life threat to him owing to previous enmity.

On 28/10/2006 at 1800 hrs on credible information PSI Belthangady PS along with his staff intercepted a car bearing Reg. No. KA-19-3385 at Kolkedabailu Maladi village and seized the 3,000 arrack sachets (each 100 ml) which was being transported illegally by arresting one Bhavani Shankara Rai (30) R/o Shivaji Nagar Kuvettu village and Suresh Kumar (38) R/o Anegudi Bejai Mangalore Taluk. The car has also been seized.

• A case under the Prevention of Immoral Traffic Act has been registered in Women Police Station. On 26/10/2006 at 2015 hrs WPI Women PS on rounds arrested two women who were soliciting for prostitution at public place near K.S. Rao Road Mangalore.

• A case of Unnatural Death Report has been registered in Mangalore North Police Station. On 28/10/2006 at 1600 hrs dead body of one Ravi @ Jeeva (45) was found in Gurupura river at Dakke Mangalore Taluk. The death seems to be due to drowning.

• A case of Unnatural Death Report has been registered in Mangalore South Police Station. On 28/10/2006 at 1500 hrs one Suresha (24) R/o Alivekodi Shirali Bhatkala Taluk accidentally slipped into Gurupura river at Dakke Mangalore while fishing in a boat at Gurupura river and died of drowning.

Police Recruitment 06: Written Examination For CPC/APC/WPC Held

The written examination for the post of Civil Police Constables (CPC-32), Armed Police Constables (APC-12) and Women Police Constables (WPC-03) for DK Police was held today (29/10/2006) at St.Alosyius College premise. In all 2287 candidates had applied for these posts. Of these 2087 candidates attended the examination today. The detailed breakup of candidates who appeared for this examination is as under:

CPCs: Total - 998, Attended - 892

APCs: Total - 856, Attended - 798

WPCs: Total - 433, Attended - 397

The examination was of objective type for 100 marks consisting of 100 questions. Candidates were asked to mark the correct answers on the OMR (Optical Marks Reading) sheets.

The correct answer keys for the questions has been given on the Karnataka Police Website (www.karnatakastatepolice.org) for the benefit of the candidates.

Gambling Raid : Twenty Five Arrested, Rs 10,555/ seized

On 27/10/2006 at 1945 hrs a police team consisting of Pramod Kumar PSI Panambur PS along with staff on specific information conducted raid on a room near B.P.C.L. Baikampady Mangalore Taluk. At the time of raid Police found 25 persons playing “Ander - Bahar” with cards. Police seized cash Rs. 10,555/ and playing cards from the spot by arresting Rama, Purushothama, Ramdas Prabhu, Raveendra, Gopal, Das. N, Mohan Kumar, Abubakkar, Wilfred D’ Souza, Moideen, Narayana, Babu, Shareef, Narayana Rai, Raja, Madava, Ramesha, Annayya, Vittala, Santhosh Kumar, Bhaskar, Shantha Kumar, Ravi Shetty, Praveen Poojary and Ramakrishna Shetty who were indulging in gambling.

In this connection, a case has been registered against the arrested persons in Panambur PS U/s 80 of the Karnataka Police Act.

One Venkappa Moolya (65) R/o Karimajalu house Kedila village Bantwal Taluk fell down near his house on 24/10/2006 at 1300 hrs. He was admitted to Puttur Govt. Hospital where he was declared dead on the same day while undergoing treatment . The death seems to be due to excessive drinking.

No. KA-20-2475 drove his vehicle in rash and negligent manner and dashed against one Philips Saldana R/o Bajjodi Bikarnakatte Mangalore Taluk a pedestrian and caused him serious injuries. He was admitted to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries on the same day while undergoing treatment.

On 20/10/2006 at 1900 hrs on credible information Mr.Chandrashekhar PI Mangalore East Police Station along with his staff conducted a raid on Sri Ram Recreation club at Sanjeeva Complex Kulashekar Mangalore Taluk. At the time of raid Police found 08 persons playing “Ander- Bahar” with cards. The Police seized cash Rs.590/ and playing cards from the spot by arresting Janardhana @ Baby, Dayananda (44) and Rajesh (20) who were indulged in gambling. However four others managed to escape.

Smt.Shanthi (53) R/o Ayodhya nagar Medipatna Hyderabad, Likitha (09) and Deepanshu (03) who were travelling in the said car sustained grievous injuries and admitted to Omega hospital Mangalore where in Smt.Shanthi succumbed to her injuries on the same day.

No. KA-13-Q-906 drove his vehicle in a rash and negligent manner and lost control over his vehicle and dashed against an electric pole. As a result rider of the said motor cycle and pillion rider Yashodhara (24) R/o Kalamanja village Belthangady Taluk sustained grievous injuries. They succumbed to the injuries sustained on the way to hospital. Another pillion rider Sridhara (21) R/o Kalamanja village Belthangady Taluk sustained grievous injuries.

The said Manohar was seriously injured by a jeep in a road traffic accident on 13/10/2006 at 1130 hrs at Kotekar village Mangalore Taluk and admitted to Tejaswini hospital Mangalore. In this connection a case of road traffic accident was already registered in Ullal Police Station.

• A case of Fatal Road accident has been registered in Sullia Police Station. On 17/10/2006 at 1715 hrs at Mogarpani Kasaba village Sullia Taluk one Mohan Bhat rider of motorcycle bearing Reg. No. KA-21-H-7368 drove his vehicle in a rash and negligent manner and dashed against a KSRTC Bus bearing Reg. No. KA-19-F-2238 driven by one Monappa (38) C/o KSRTC Puttur Div. As a result motorcycle rider Mohan Bhat sustained grievous injuries. He was admitted to A. J. hospital Mangalore where he succumbed to his injuries on the same day at 1940 hrs while undergoing treatment.

On 16/10/206 one Jyothi Lakshmi (20) R/o Kasaba village Vittal Bantwal Taluk consumed poison at her house owing to health problem. She was admitted to Fr. Muller hospital Mangalore where she was declared dead while under treatment.

• A case of Unnatural Death Report has been registered in Belthangady Police Station. On 17/10/2006 Vijaya (32) R/o Mithula nagara Dharmastala village Belthangady Taluk and her son Abhijit (04) consumed poison at their house owing to family problem. They were admitted to Tejasvini hospital Mangalore where they were declared dead while under treatment.

• A case of Unnatural Death Report has been registered in Sullia Police Station. On 17/10/2006 one Prabhavathi (57) R/o Ajjavara village Sullia Taluk accidentally slipped into the pond near her house and died of drowning.
