- A case under Cruelty by husband and his relatives along with Criminal intimidation has been registered in Sullia Police Station on the complaint of one Thahaneen Areef (30) W/o Areef R/o Mogarpane Sullia Town. In the complaint it is alleged that accused Areef (husband) and his relatives Najamunnisa, Ismail, Vahida and Nowshad gave physical and mental harassment to Thahaneen Areef to bring more dowry and accused Ismail gave life threat to her.
- A case under Cruelty by husband and his relatives, Intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace, Hurt along with Dowry Prohibition Act has been registered in Bantwal Rural Police Station on the complaint of one Mamthaz (20) W/o Mohammed Muneer R/o Kukkettu Boliyar village Mangalore Taluk. In the complaint it is alleged that accused Mohammed Muneer (25) (husband) R/o Babukody Kukkaje Manchi village Bantwal Taluk and his relatives Jainaby (40) and Abbas (45) assaulted and gave physical and mental harassment to one Mamthaz to bring more dowry and also gave life threat her.

- A case of Fatal Road accident has been registered in Bajpe Police Station. On 16/01/2009 at 0825 hrs at Gurupura Mulooru village Mangalore Taluk one unknown driver of lorry bearing Reg. No. KA-20-7861 drove his vehicle in a rash and negligent manner and dashed against a motorcycle bearing Reg. No. KA-19-895. As a result motorcycle rider Bharath and Khasim pillion rider of said motorcycle sustained serious injuries and died on the spot due which lorry driver lost control over his vehicle and dashed against one Umesha a pedestrian and caused him serious injuries. Further Umesha was admitted to Tejashwini hospital at Mangalore where he succumbed to his injuries while under treatment on the same day. The lorry driver escaped from the place without stopping his vehicle.

- A case of Non Fatal Road accident has been registered in Mangalore East Police Station. On 16/01/2009 at 1130 hrs in front of Kamadhenu Gas Agency at Nanthoor Mangalore one unknown rider of motorcycle bearing Reg. No. KA-19-L-5461 drove his vehicle in a rash and negligent manner and dashed against an auto rickshaw bearing Reg. No. KA-19-B-2545 due which the rickshaw capsized. As a result one Mamatha K. Shenoy (30) R/o Nanthoor Mangalore who was traveling in the said rickshaw sustained simple injuries. The motorcycle rider escaped from the place without stopping his vehicle.
- A case of Non Fatal Road accident has been registered in Mulki Police Station. On 15/01/2009 at 0900 hrs in front of Post Office at Mulki Mangalore one Girish Kamath driver of Maruti Omni van bearing Reg. No. KA-19-N-8686 drove his vehicle in a rash and negligent manner and dashed against one Prakash Kamath a pedestrian and caused him grievous injuries.
- A case of Non Fatal Road accident has been registered in Bantwal Town Police Station. On 16/01/2009 at 0820 hrs near Nethravathi over bridge at Bantwal Town one driver of bus bearing Reg. No. KA-19-B-2929 drove his vehicle in a rash and negligent manner and dashed against a rickshaw tempo bearing Reg. No KA-21-A-624. As a result Ubaidulla (21) R/o Nekkilady village Puttur Taluk and Mohammed Ali who were traveling in the said rickshaw tempo sustained simple injuries.

On 16/01/2009 at 1430 hrs at Kalubailu Deraje Aranthodu village Sullia Taluk accused Gangayya Gowda, Satheesha Gowda and Ajitha Gowda R/o Deraje Aranthodu village Sullia Taluk fired one Kamalaksha D (62) R/o Deraje Aranthodu village Sullia Taluk with a Country made gun and tried to kill him owing to civil dispute between them.

On 15/01/2009 at 2210 hrs accused Adam M.T, Bend Sulaiman, Hameed Boluvaru and other 3 persons forming into unlawful assembly near Kotecha Hall at Salmar Chikkamudnoor village Puttur Taluk and criminally restrained Khasim (34) and Samad R/o Chikkamudnoor village Puttur Taluk and assaulted them by hand and kidnapped Samad owing to previous enmity.

On 16/01/2009 at 1930 hrs accused Raju Krishnakody, Dharnappa, Karna @ Karunakara, Balakrishna and Udaya forming into unlawful assembly at Melina Pete Kalladka Bantwal Town and criminally restrained Mohan Das (27) R/o Malar Balthila village Bantwal Taluk and Rathnakara Shetty and abused them in filthy language and assaulted them by iron rod and also gave life threat to them owing to trivial issue.

- A case of Unnatural Death Report has been registered in Mangalore North Police Station. In between 15/01/2009 at 1800 hrs and 16/01/2009 at 0800 hrs one Prakash K. committed suicide by hanging in his room at Laxmi Mahal lodge K.S. Rao road Mangalore owing to personal problem.
- A case of Unnatural Death Report has been registered in Mangalore North Police Station. On 16/01/2009 at 1230 hrs one dead body of Damodhara (56) R/o Vidyanagara Kumpala Someshwara village Mangalore Taluk was found near Milagres School at Hampankatte Mangalore. The death seems to be some illness.
- A case of Unnatural Death Report has been registered in Belthangady Police Station. On 16/01/2009 at 1700 hrs one unknown male dead body aged about 55 yrs to 60 yrs was found near KSRTC bus stand at Dharmasthala village Belthangady Taluk. The death seems to be some illness.

- A case of Woman missing has been registered in Uppinangady Police Station. One Somavathi (26) W/o Vasantha R/o Kallarige Patrame village Belthangady Taluk left her house on 13/01/2009 at 0900 hrs and did not return to her house there after. She has been found missing since then.
