Daily Crime Incidents for February 04, 2007

The following are the crimes reported in D.K. District during the last 24 hrs as at 1600 hrs on 04/02/2007.

Murder: 01
  • A case of Murder has been registered in Belthangady Police Station. On the morning of 04/02/2007 one Prashantha Patil (23) who was working as a cleaner at Vijaya Canteen at Dharmastala Belthangady Taluk was found lying at the back of the canteen with bleeding injuries on his stomach. He was immediately shifted to Wenlock hospital for treatment. However he succumbed to the injuries sustained while on the way itself. It is found that the deceased has been stabbed to death by some unknown persons for some unknown reason. Case is under investigation. The deceased hails from Kolhapur of Maharashtra.

Crime against Women: 02

  • A case under Cruelty by Husband and his relatives along with Dowry Prohibition Act has been registered in Bajpe Police Station on the complaint of one Pushpa (29) w/o Lakshmana R/o Kilpady village Mulky Mangalore Taluk. In the complaint it is alleged that accused Lakshmana (husband) and his relatives Kamala and Geetha gave physical and mental harassment to Pushpa to bring more dowry and they also assaulted her by hand on 29/01/2007 at 1700 hrs due which she got injured.
  • A case under Cruelty by Husband, Criminal intimidation along with Dowry Prohibition Act has been registered in Ullal Police Station on the complaint of one Jayanthi (30) w/o Dinesh R/o Uliya Ullala village Mangalore Taluk. In the complaint it is alleged that accused Dinesh (34) (husband) gave physical and mental harassment to Jayanthi to bring more dowry and also gave life threat to her.

Fatal: 01

  • A case of Fatal Road accident has been registered in Panambur Police Station. On 03/02/2007 at 1410 hrs at Angaragundi Baikampady village Mangalore one Vishwanatha K (41) R/o Bejai Kapikad Mangalore driver of Maxi cab bearing Reg. No.KA-19-A-1195 drove his vehicle in a rash and negligent manner and dashed against one Tasniya (07) D/o Sajid R/o Angaragundi Baikampady Mangalore a pedestrian and caused her serious injuries. Further she succumbed to her injuries while on the way to hospital.

Non-Fatal: 03

  • A case of Non Fatal Road accident has been registered in Mangalore East Police Station. On 02/02/2007 at 1300 hrs near Balmatta Mangalore one unknown driver of Maruti car bearing Reg. No. KA-19-P-1551 drove his vehicle in a rash and negligent manner and dashed against one Mahabala Rai M (48) R/o Perla Yenmakaje village Kasaragod district Kerala state a pedestrian and caused him grievous injuries. The car driver escaped from the place without stopping his vehicle.
  • A case of Non Fatal Road accident has been registered in Mangalore East Police Station. On 03/02/2007 at 1900 hrs near Karavali circle at Kankanady Mangalore one driver of auto rickshaw bearing Reg. No. KA-19-A-2717 drove his vehicle in a rash and negligent manner and dashed against one Manjunatha (29) PSI Mangalore East PS while he was on his duty and caused him simple injuries.
  • A case of Non Fatal Road accident has been registered in Bajpe Police Station. On 02/02/2007 at 1800 hrs at Maravur Malavoor village Mangalore Taluk one Surya Bhat driver of car bearing Reg. No.CKH-8775 drove his vehicle in a rash and negligent manner and dashed against a motorcycle bearing Reg. No. KA-20-6973. As a result motorcycle rider one Suresh Ameen (36) R/o Kunjibettu village Udupi district sustained simple injuries.

Riots: 01

  • A case under Rioting, Public disturbance and preventing the police officers from discharging of their duties, along with Attempt to Murder has been registered in Puttur Town Police Station. On 03/02/2007 at 2100 hrs in front Mahalingeshwara Temple at Puttur Town, Arun Kumar Puttila and other members of a Hindu organization had organized Shaneeshwara Pooja. During the function, Arun Kumar Puttila, Ravi Prasd Shetty and other persons forming into an unlawful assembly demanded to take a procession. When the Police officers refused permission, they shouted slogans against police and pelted stones on the police and attempted to kill the police in which some policemen got injured.

  • A case under Hurt has been registered in Urwa Police Station. On 03/02/2007 at 1900 hrs accused one Yuvaraja D. R/o Daddalkad Ashoknagar Mangalore assaulted his brother one Dayananda D. (45) with knife in their house owing to family dispute.
  • A case under Hurt has been registered in Puttur Town Police Station. On 02/02/2007 at 2200 hrs accused one Krishnappa (30) assaulted his father Kunda (75) R/o Malepadpu Shanthigodu village Puttur Taluk with sickle in their house owing to family dispute.
  • A case under Hurt has been registered in Kadaba Police Station. On 02/02/2007 at 1800 hrs near bus stand at Haleneranki village Puttur Taluk accused one Gunapala (35) R/o Haleneranki village Puttur Taluk abused one Balakrishna Rai (38) R/o Kadra Quarters Haleneranki Puttur Taluk in filthy language and assaulted him with iron rod owing to trivial issue.
  • A case under Criminal restraint, Hurt along with Criminal intimidation has been registered in Vittal Police Station. On 03/02/2007 at 1930 hrs accused Ammu Madiwala and another person criminally restrained and abused one Balakrishna Naik (40) R/o Kudelu Vittal Mudnur village in filthy language near his house and assaulted him by hand and also gave life threat to him owing to trivial issue.
  • A case under Hurt along with Criminal intimidation has been registered in Puttur Rural Police Station. On 02/02/2007 at 1930 hrs at Kanathamoole Volamogaru village Puttur Taluk accused one Narayana Rai abused Ramesh Poojary, his wife Gunavathi and Mayeelappa in filthy language and assaulted them by hand and with sickle owing dispute.
