Motor Vehicle Theft: 01

• A case under MV Theft has been registered in Belthangady Police Station. On the intervening night of 26-27/02/2007 some unknown culprits committed theft of a Hero Honda Splendor motorcycle bearing Reg. No. KA-21-E-8530 belonging to one Velayudhan Kutti (35) R/o Ujire village Belthangady Taluk that was parked near his house. The motorcycle is worth Rs. 15,000/.

Crime against Women: 01

• A case under Cheating along with SC/ST Prevention of Atrocities Act has been registered in Belthangady Police Station where in it is alleged that one Lingappa Gowda R/o Neriya village of Belthangady Taluk had sexual intimacy with a Twenty six year girl of Neriya village Belthangady Taluk by promising to marry her. There upon he refused to marry her and also abused her in filthy language referring to her caste.

• A case of Non Fatal Road accident has been registered in Bajpe Police Station. On 26/02/2007 at 2045 hrs at Kukkudhakatte Mulur village one unknown driver of Tipper bearing Reg. No. KA-19-4565 drove his vehicle in a rash and negligent manner and dashed against a motorcycle bearing Reg. No. KA-19-A-723. As a result motorcycle rider Prakash Rai (24) R/o Muduperare village Mangalore Taluk sustained simple injuries and pillion rider Manjunath sustained grievous injuries. The Lorry driver escaped from the place without stopping his vehicle.
  
• A case of Non Fatal Road accident has been registered in Moodabidre Police Station. On 25/02/2007 at 0915 hrs at Kallakumeru Niddodi village one Vamana driver of Mahindra Tempo bearing Reg. No. KA-19-A-3453 drove his vehicle in a rash and negligent manner and lost control over his vehicle due which Tempo capsized. As a result Shobha (15) R/o Kompadhavu village Mangalore Taluk and Lakshmi who were traveling in the said Tempo sustained simple injuries.
  
• A case of Non Fatal Road accident has been registered in Puttur Town Police Station. On 27/02/2007 at 0915 hrs at Mura Kabaka village Puttur Taluk one Mahesh Bhat rider of motorcycle bearing Reg. No. KA-13-E-5389 drove his vehicle in a rash and negligent manner and dashed against another motorcycle bearing Reg. No. KA-21-H-1249. As a result Francis Dayas (49) R/o Kabaka village Puttur Taluk rider of motorcycle bearing Reg. No. KA-21-H-1249 and pillion rider of said motorcycle his wife Monthi Pudtharo sustained simple injuries.

Attempt to Murder: 01

• A case under Attempt to Murder has been registered in Sullia Police Station. On 27/02/2007 at 2200 hrs three unknown persons came to the house of advocate Venkappa Gowda R/o Beramangila house Sullia village and attempted to kill him by throwing acid on him due which he sustained serious burn injuries. Further accused escaped from the place in a motorcycle. The wife of Venkappa Gowda who came to the rescue of her husband also sustained injuries on her hand. Both were given treatment in a local hospital at Sullia. Venkappa Gowda has been shifted to Mangalore A J Hospital for advanced treatment. He is however out of danger. The motive for the offence is still uncertain. CPI Bantwal Karunakar Shetty is investigating the case.

Unnatural Death Report: 01

• A case of Unnatural Death Report has been registered in Sullia Police Station. On 27/02/2007 at 1500 hrs one Gopala Maniyani (42) R/o Koingaje Aletti village Sullia Taluk committed suicide by hanging in his house owing to health problem.
