Crackdown On Drug Peddlers: Two Arrested And 680 gms Ganja Seized

On 05/07/2006 the Anti Rowdy Squad has arrested two persons and seized about 680 gms of ganja worth about Rs. 5000/ from their possession.

Their names of the accused are
1. Abdul Raheem @ Chappethanni (25) R/o Bengre Mangalore Taluk
2. Abdul Rehaman Muneer @ Muneer (20) R/o Bengre Mangalore Taluk

On 05-07-2006 at about 9-45 morning on receipt of a tip off that, two persons are selling ganja clandestinely near public toilet at service bus stand in Mangalore City, PI Mr. Vinay A Gaonkar I/C of Anti Rowdy Squad along with staff raided the area and caught red handed the accused persons who tried to slip away on seeing the police. On verification Abdul Raheem @ Chappethanni was found in possession of 530 grams of Ganja in polythene bag and 650 grams of empty polythene sachet of 6 cm X 6 cm size which were being used for packing ganja, while another accused Abdul Rehaman Muneer @ Muneer was found in possession of 48 small packets of Ganja in polythene bag hidden in his waist under the shirt weighing about 150 grams which he was selling at Rs. 30 per packet. Rs 80 being the sale proceeds of the ganja was also seized from his possession along with the ganja.

As per the direction of SPDK the accused along with seized articles have been handed over to SHO South Police Station on the point of jurisdiction. Accordingly a case under the NDPS Act has been taken in South PS against the two accused.

During the course of preliminary investigation accused Abdul Raheem has revealed that he procures ganja from a person in Uppala of Kerala state and after packing them in small sachets in his house at Bengre, he sells them through Abdul Rehaman Muneer @ Muneer and a few others in and sround Mangalore city.

The accused have been produced before the court and have been remanded for judicial custody.
