The following are the crimes reported in D.K. District during the last 24 hrs as at 1600 hrs on 20/07/06

Murder: 01

  • A case of Murder has been registered in Venoor Police Station where in one Janardhana Gowda (32) has murdered his own brother Padma Gowda (40) by stabbing with a sharp iron object owing to some land dispute. The incident has occured on 19/07/2006 at 2100 hrs in the house of Padma Gowda near Enmanje, Eliya-nadugodu Village, Bantwal taluk when all the family members were preparing to go to sleep.

Robbery: 01

  • A case of robbery has been registered in Kavoor Police Station relating to an incident of chain snatching. On 19/07/2006 at 0930 hrs near Land links Konchady Public road Mangalore, one Surekha (24) was on her way to bus stand from the house to catch a bus to go for work, At that time, some unknown person aged about 25 yrs came near her and snatched the gold chain from her neck and ran away. The value of property is around Rs.5000/.

  • A case of Non Fatal Road accident has been registered in Ullal Police Station. On 19/07/2006 at 1100 hrs near Bandara Bailu Kuttar-Madhaka road Munnur Village Mangalore taluk one Mohammed Hussain the driver of Maruti Omni KA-18-M-2762 drove his vehicle in a rash and negligent manner and dashed to a motorcycle No. KA-19-U-6493 that was coming from the opposite direction and caused grievous injuries to its rider Mohammed Salam.

  • A case of Non Fatal Road accident has been registered in Mangalore North Police Station. On 18/07/2006 at 2330 hrs near VRL Office Kudmal Ranga Rao road Karangalpady Mangalore, the rider of motorcycle No. KA-21-H-7594 drove his vehicle in a rash and negligent manner and dashed to a pedestrian Sharath (36) and caused grievous injuries.

  • A case of Non Fatal Road accident transferred from Badiyadka Police Station Kerala State has been registered in Vittla Police Station. On 03/07/2004 at 1115 hrs near Adyanadka Keppu Village, P.S.Sameer and his friend were traveling on a Hero Honda motorcycle No.KL-14-D-7691 from Perla to Puttur. At that time, the driver of a Jeep No. KL-13-5076 drove the vehicle in a rash and negligent manner and dashed to their motor cycle due which Sameer and his friend sustained grievous injuries. At first the case was registered in Badiyadka Police Station and as the place of occurrence belonged to Karnataka state, it has now been transferred to Vittla Police Station.

Cheating/ Criminal Breach of Trust: 01

  • A case of Cheating has been registered in Konaje Police Station relating to providing of false information in obtaining a house loan and non payment of the same. The alleged incident has occured in the month of Jan 05 where in one Moideen Haider took a house loan of Rs.3,15,000/ from Syndicate Bank Deralakatte branch. Later when he failed to repay the loan amount as agreed upon in instalments, the bank officials went for inspection and found that the construction site does not belong to him at all. Accordingly now they have lodged this complaint against Moideen Haider, G.V. Kamath the guarantor and Prakash Rao the Engineer who had certified the plans...etc.

  • A case of Hurt has been registered in Puttur Rural Police Station where in one Babu Gowda has assaulted Narayana Gowda with a sickle at Kukuthadi House Balnadu Village Puttur Taluk owing to some land dispute. The alleged incident has occured on 19/07/2006 at 1815 hrs.

  • A case of wrongful restraint (sec 341 IPC) & Criminal intimidation (sec 506 IPC) has been registered in Urwa Police Station against the accused Satish Prabhu and Kennute Menezes. One Abdul Nazeer who was working with them has given a complaint alleging that on 19/07/2006 at 1030 hrs near Bejai Mangalore, he was forcefully restrained by the accused in a room and was assaulted as well. The accused suspected that Abdul Nazeer was in the habit of stealing fuel from the vehicle and due to this grudge they have committed this offence.
