Work Shop On Right To Information Act Organized For Daliths By DK Police On 30th Jul 06

The Dakshina Kannada Police has organized a workshop on the Right To Information Act exclusively for the people of the Dalith community of DK District this Sunday on 30/07/06. This workshop has ben arranged as a part of the monthly Dalith Meeting which the DK Police is conducting regularly every last Sunday of the month for the last one year to redress the grievances of these deprived sections of the society.

The workshop will be conducted by the resource persons of the Pragna Samithi of Mysore - a Non Government Organization working in the field of social awareness.

Ever since the Right to Information (RTI) has come into force last year (yr 2005), it has immensely benefited the people in getting the desired information from the concerned departments relating to various issues. In this context, the purpose of this workshop is to make the SC/ST people aware of the Act so that they can make use of the provisions of the Act to get their desired works done from the concerned Government departments. During the workshop, besides explaining the provisions of the Act, participants will be given hands on (practical) training about how to fill the application form seeking information...etc.
There is no entry fee for the workshop. Those interested are most welcome to attend.
