The following are the crimes reported in D.K. District during the last 24 hrs as at 1600 hrs on 17/10/2007.

Burglary: 01
  • A case of Burglary has been registered in Venoor Police Station. On the intervening night of 16-17/10/2007 some unknown culprits gained entry into the house belonging to one Gafhoor K.S. (67) R/o Pilya village Belthangady Taluk by breaking the back door lock and committed theft of gold ornaments (880 gms) and cash Rs. 3000/. The total worth of stolen property is about Rs. 7,04,000/.

  • A case of Ordinary theft has been registered in Surathkal Police Station. In between 05/10/2007 and 16/10/2007 at 1600 hrs one Ashoka Mariyappa employee of HPCL Company Bala Surathkal committed theft of a Fire Hydrant Nozzles worth Rs. 10,000/ from Company premise and was caught by Security staff. The same was seized by Biswas A.K. Manager Safety Helath and Environment HPCL Bala village Mangalore and handed over to Surathkal PS.

  • A case of Non Fatal Road accident has been registered in Barke Police Station. On 15/10/2007 at 2230 hrs at Lalbagh Mangalore one rider of motorcycle bearing Reg. No. KA-19-K-9099 drove his vehicle in a rash and negligent manner and dashed against a car bearing Reg. No. KA-19-AC-7747 driven by one Prabhakara Bhandary (44) R/o Ashokanagara Mangalore from behind. As a result motorcycle rider sustained simple injuries.
  • A case of Non Fatal Road accident has been registered in Konaje Police Station. On 15/10/2007 at 1330 hrs at Mudungarukatte Balepuni village Mangalore Taluk one Aziz rider of motorcycle bearing Reg. No. KA-19-W-6469 drove his vehicle in a rash and negligent manner and dashed against one Lokesh Shetty (30) R/o Pathooru Kasaragod Taluk Kerala State a pedestrian and caused him grievous injuries.
  • A case of Non Fatal Road accident has been registered in Belthangady Police Station. On 17/10/2007 at 1045 hrs on Charmady-Ujire road at Chibidre village Belthangady Taluk one Girish Subbayya rider of motorcycle bearing Reg. No. KA-19-K-6275 drove his vehicle in a rash and negligent manner and dashed another motorcycle bearing Reg. No. KA-20-R-15 driven by one Shravan Kumar. As a result riders and pillion riders of the both motorcycles sustained simple injuries.

Cheating/ Criminal Breach of Trust: 01

  • A case under Cheating along with Criminal intimidation has been registered in Belthangady Police Station where in it is alleged that one Nonayya R/o Sameda Kalpu Puduvettu village Belthangady Taluk had sexually intimacy with a 23 yrs old girl of Puduvettu village Belthangady Taluk by promising to marry her. There upon he cheated her by refusing to marry her and he also gave life threat to her.

  • A case under Intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace along with Hurt has been registered in Mangalore South Police Station. On 15/10/2007 at 2115 hrs at Mangaladevi Mangalore accused Ashoka abused one Prasad (19) R/o Mahakalipadpu Jeppu Mangalore cleaner of bus bearing Reg. No. KA-19-B-4191 in filthy language and assaulted him with stone owing to trivial issue.
  • A case under Intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace, Hurt along with Criminal intimidation has been registered in Bantwal Town Police Station. On 15/10/2007 at 1030 hrs accused Abusali and Rafique abused one Hasinar (45) R/o Peraje Sajipa Moda village Bantwal Taluk in filthy language and assaulted him by hand and with stone and also gave life threat to him owing to previous enmity.

Missing Persons: 01

  • A case of Girl missing has been registered in Mangalore Rural Police Station. One Shewtha (19) R/o Koti mura Padavu village Mangalore Taluk left her house on 21/09/2007 at 1200 hrs and did not return to her house there after. She has been found missing since then.
