One Italian Citizen has been arrested on 06/11/2006 by Belthangady Police for not possessing valid Visa or Registration Card etc. He has been booked under the Foreigners Act, 1946 vide Belthangady Police Station Cr.No.260/2006.
The name of the person arrested is:
Mr. Saliu Lorenzo (37) S/o Micheal Saliu R/o Cagliara Sardiania Italy.
The person was found staying in a tent at Reserve forest near Kalleri Belthagady Taluk .
It is learnt that he came to India during February 2006 on tourist Visa from Thailand and since then he has travelled to various places in India. Though his Visa expired on 22/07/2006, neither did he apply for extension nor left the country but continued to stay in India illegally.

The accused has been produced before the Jurisdictional Judicial Magistrate on 07/11/2006 and has been remanded for judicial custody.
