Ullal Murder Case Cracked: One Arrested From Mumbai

On the morning of 7th Jan 07, one unknown lady was found murdered by strangulation in a hotel room in Ullal town of Mangalore taluk. In this connection a case of murder was registered on the same day in Ullal PS and investigation taken up by Mr. Jayanth V Shetty CPI Mangalore Rural Circle. No clue however was forthcoming regarding the culprits or the motive for the offence except for the fact that a couple had taken the room in the hotel on the morning of 06/01/2007 telling that they are from Kerala. The man had slipped away from the hotel without anybody's notice.

During the course of investigation when the room was being searched for any telltale signs, a small bank slip was found thrown near the wash basin. It had the name Development Credit Bank and the pincode found was of Dongri Mumbai Maharashtra. Based on this small clue a team headed by CPI Mangalore Rural Circle (IO of the case) was dispatched to Mumbai to make enquiries and probe further. The team after painstaking efforts located the bank branch and from the bank authorities the identity of the person who had written the slip was also established as he was an account holder in the bank. The person was identified as one Moideen Kutti Pandelu 34 yrs originally from Kasargod Kerala but settled in Mumbai. As his address and mobile numbers were also available, the police team with the help of local police traced the accused and arrested him on the night of 23rd Jan 07 from Dongri Mumbai. At the time of his arrest, apparently the accused was already making plans to go abroad and escape as he was caught with his air ticket to Dubai, passport and Visa.

During preliminary questioning, the accused admitted the murder and also disclosed the identity of the deceased. Her name was Ayesha 23 yrs and she was his 3rd Wife. She was originally from Hyderabad Andhra Pradesh and was married to him for the last 02 yrs. As lot of differences had cropped up between the two recently, the accused took her to Ullal and made her to consume liquor mixed with sleeping tablets in the hotel room and the strangulated her with the veil while she was asleep and escaped from there in the night. He had purchased the sleeping pills in Mumbai and had used the bank slip as wrapper for the pills.

The accused has been brought to Mangalore and is being produced before the jurisdictional Magistrate today (25/01/2007) after completion of his interrogation and other formalities.
