On 13/12/2006 at 0750 hrs at Kashibettu Laila village Belthangady Taluk one Mohammed @ Hameed driver of Lorry bearing Reg. No. KA-21-9222 drove his vehicle in a rash and negligent manner and dashed against an auto rickshaw bearing Reg. No. KA-21-8186. As a result Gregory Moras (32) driver of auto rickshaw sustained serious injuries and died on the spot and Yatheesh a passenger in the said auto rickshaw sustained simple injuries.

The Maruti car driver escaped from the place without stopping his vehicle.

On 11/12/2006 at 0100 hrs one Lokayya (50) R/o Hanchikatte house Kavalapaduru village Bantwal Taluk consumed poison in his house owing to health problem. He was admitted to Wenlock hospital where he was declared dead on the same day while under treatment.
