On the basis of the leads given by Abdul Kabeer who was arrested yesterday (14/12/2006), the police have arrested three more persons today (15/12/2006) who are involved in the murder of Sukhananda Shetty.
The names of the persons arrested are:
1. Naushad 22 yrs R/o Vamanjur Mangalore taluk
2. Nawaz 19 yrs R/o Permannur village Mangalore taluk
3. Nazeer 27 yrs R/o Kalladka Bantwal taluk
Of these while accused Naushad and Nawaz have actually participated in the attack on Sukhananda Shetty, accused Nazeer has been arrested on the charge of assisting the accused Kabeer in escaping to Sakleshpur. He had taken Kabeer in his Maruthi Omni van from Kalladka to Sakleshpur and left him there in a local lodge from where he was picked up subsequently by the police. The Maruthi Omni van belonging to Nazeer has also been seized.
Meanwhile the accused Kabeer was produced today before the court and taken for police custody for 15 days. His detailed interrogation is continued. Efforts to trace the other culprits is also in progress.
