Fake Brown Sugar Racket Busted: Four Arrested

The Puttur Rural Police have arrested four persons who were trying to sell some powder as Brown Sugar in Puttur. The names of the arrested persons are:

1. C.M.Raju (45) R/o Balya vil Puttur taluk
2. Raju @ Mathew (28) R/o Kutrapadi vil Puttur taluk
3. Some Gowda (54) R/o Sugutami vil Cjikmagalur Dist
4. Harisha (30) R/o Dharmastala Belthangady taluk.

On 16/09/06, the accused had lured one Dhanesh Kumar (24) R/o Bandaru vil Belthangady taluk to purchase about a kg of Brown Sugar for Rs.20,00,000/ that is worth crores of rupees in the drug market. The said Dhanesh Kumar had promptly informed the Puttur Rural Police who in turn rushed to Kallape of Aryapu village on Puttur-Sullia road and apprehended the accused. On their personal search, they found 800 gms of white powder in their possession. However on proper examination, it was confirmed that the substance is neither brown sugar nor any other narcotic material.

Hence a case of Attempt for cheating has been registered today (17/09/06) against them in Puttur Rural Police Station on the complaint of Dhanesh Kumar. All the accused are being produced before the court jurisdictional court.
