Gambling Raid: Six Arrested, Rs 6,100 / seized

On 30/05/2009/2009 at 2015 hrs on specific information ASP Puttur, PI Puttur Town PS along with staff conducted raid on open place at Anemajalu Puttur Town. At the time of raid Police found 06 persons playing “Ander - Bahar” with cards. Police seized cash Rs. 6,100/ and playing cards from the spot by arresting Albert, Sheena, Shameer, Arun, Iqbal and Shiva Prasad who were indulging in gambling.

In this connection, a case has been registered against the arrested persons in Puttur Town PS U/s 87 of the Karnataka Police Act.

No. KA-05-M-8728 drove his vehicle in a rash and negligent manner and collided against a KSRTC bus bearing Reg. No. KA-19-F-2143 driven by one Abdul Azeez (29) C/o KSRTC Puttur. As a result Gopalakrishna the driver of said car sustained simple injuries. Both the vehicle got damaged.
  

• A case of Non Fatal Road accident has been registered in Mangalore North Police Station. On 30/05/2009 at 1030 hrs near Temple square Cart street Mangalore one driver of car bearing Reg. No. KA-19-Z-7250 drove his vehicle in backward direction in rash and negligent manner and collided against one Mohini Shenoy (60) R/o Airport road Bajpe Mangalore a pedestrian and caused her grievous injuries.
  

• A case of Non Fatal Road accident has been registered in Mangalore South Police Station. On 30/05/2009 at 0700 hrs near Nandigudda Mangalore one unknown rider of motorcycle drove his vehicle in a rash and negligent manner and collided against one Santhosh a pedestrian and caused him simple injuries. The motorcycle rider escaped from the place without stopping his vehicle.

• A case under Cheating along with Criminal intimidation has been registered in Mangalore East Police Station on the complaint of one Suryanarayan Rao (67) R/o Karangalpady Mangalore. In the complaint it is alleged that accused Ajrun and others taken a cash of 18,00,000/ from one Suryanarayan Rao for sanctioning a loan and cheated him by not giving the sanctioned loan amount and also gave life threat to him.

• A case of Counterfeiting currency has been registered in Urwa Police Station on the complaint of K.C Prabhu (60) Senior Branch manager Syndicate Bank Bejai Mangalore where in it is alleged that some unknown customers came to the Syndicate Bank Bejai Mangalore and deposited cash. On checking, bank officials found 05 Nos. of counterfeit currency of face value Rs. 1000/ and 500/ in the bundle.

In between 0800 hrs of 29/05/2009 and 1445 hrs of 30/05/2009 one Karunakara Gowda (40) R/o Kompadavu village Mangalore Taluk committed suicide by jumping into the pond near her house owing to personal problem and died due to drowning.

• A case of Unnatural Death Report has been registered in Surathkal Police Station. On 27/05/2008 at 1430 hrs one Damodhara (30) R/o Delanthabettu Surathkal Mangalore attempted to commit suicide by consuming pesticide in his house owing to personal problem. Further he was admitted to A.J hospital at Mangalore where he declared dead while under treatment on 30/05/2009 at 1700 hrs.

Further Umesh Shetty succumbed to his injuries while on the way to hospital.

Further Shekar Rathod L succumbed to his injuries while under treatment on 28/05/2009 at 0900 hrs. The driver of tempo escaped from the place without stopping his vehicle.

• A case of Fatal Road accident has been registered in Belthangady Police Station. In between 0100 hrs and 0600 hrs of 28/05/2009 at Kallagudde Belthangady Town one Perumal (52) rider of M80 bearing Reg. No. KA-21-H-365 drove his vehicle in a rash and negligent manner and lost control over his vehicle due which motorcycle capsized. As a result motorcycle rider Perumal sustained grievous injuries and died on the spot.

As a result one Rithesh (13) R/o Kaniyooru village Belthangady Taluk rider of said bicycle sustained grievous injuries.

In between 30/04/2009 and 22/05/2009 some unknown culprits gained entry into the Urdu Higher Primary School at Kudroli Mangalore by breaking the door lock and committed a theft of 02 Gas cylinders. The total value of stolen property is yet to be estimated.

Further he was admitted to City hospital where he succumbed to his injuries while under treatment on the same day.

In between 21/05/2009 and 1900 hrs of 22/05/2009 some unknown culprits gained entry into the house belonging to one Sunil Kumar (32) R/o Ganga Layout near Mahalingeshwara temple at Kankanady Mangalore by breaking the door lock and committed a theft of gold ornaments, cash Rs. 33,000/ and a mobile phone all in worth Rs. 74,000/.

• A case of Burglary has been registered in Panambur Police Station. On the intervening night of 22-23/05/2009 some unknown culprits gained entry into the Office belonging to HML at Panambur by breaking the door lock and committed a theft of cash Rs. 16,44,508/.

On 23/05/2009 at 1630 hrs on Puttur-Mani road at Patlakodi Mani village Bantwal Taluk one Harish driver of Tempo bearing Reg. No. KA-19-B-4498 drove his vehicle in a rash and negligent manner and collided against an auto rickshaw bearing Reg. No. KA-19-B-8701 due which the auto rickshaw capsized. As a result one Ashoka Purusha (25) driver of said auto rickshaw sustained grievous injuries and succumbed to his injuries while on the way to hospital.

• A case of Fatal Road accident has been registered in Subramanya Police Station. On 23/05/2009 at 1830 hrs at Kamila Gutthigaru village Sullia Taluk one Girish driver of Crane bearing Reg. No. KA-19-Z-4986 drove his vehicle in a rash and negligent manner and collided against an auto rickshaw bearing Reg. No. KA-21-A-415. As a result Radhakrishna driver of auto rickshaw, Ananda Mugera (55) R/o Kamila Gutthigaru village Sullia Taluk, Dharmaprakash and a lady who were traveling in the said auto rickshaw sustained grievous injuries. Further Dharmaprakash succumbed to his injuries while on the way to hospital.

The total value of property taken away was estimated to be Rs. 70,000/.

Halmaddi seized, 3 persons arrested

A Halmaddi processing unit being run illegaly by one Usman Haji at a place called Berike near Bellippady village of Puttur Taluk was raided at 8.00 p.m. on 19-05-09 by a team led of ASP Puttur and Police Inspector, Puttur Town Police Station and seized property worth 1.4 lakh including 400 kilos of unprocessed Halmaddi , a jeep and taken 3 persons into custody. Halmaddi is a semi liquid resin taken from Ailanthus malabarica tree and used in incense sticks.

In this regard a case has been registered in Puttur Town PS Cr. No. 115/09 u/s 24(e)(s), 80, 144, 71(a) r/w 169 K.F. Act and Sec 379 IPC and is under investigation.

Further he was admitted to Wenlock hospital at Mangalore where he succumbed to his injuries while under treatment on 19/05/2009 at 0900 hrs.

• A case of Fatal Road accident has been registered in Uppinangady Police Station. On 18/05/2009 at 0600 hrs at Udane Shiradi village Puttur Taluk one Thotayya driver of KSRTC Volvo bus bearing Reg. No. KA-01-F-8338 drove his vehicle in a rash and negligent manner and collided against a lorry bearing Reg. No. KA-01-A-1850 loaded with wooden Logs which was, parked at roadside. As result Santhosha, Varaprasad, Sathishchandra, Girish and Prabhatha Hegde who were traveling in the KSRTC bus sustained grievous injuries and died on the spot. Further Ismail (22) R/o Sampya Ariyapu village Puttur Taluk and 15 to 20 passengers who were traveling the said bus sustained simple injuries.
