Halmaddi seized, 3 persons arrested

A Halmaddi processing unit being run illegaly by one Usman Haji at a place called Berike near Bellippady village of Puttur Taluk was raided at 8.00 p.m. on 19-05-09 by a team led of ASP Puttur and Police Inspector, Puttur Town Police Station and seized property worth 1.4 lakh including 400 kilos of unprocessed Halmaddi , a jeep and taken 3 persons into custody. Halmaddi is a semi liquid resin taken from Ailanthus malabarica tree and used in incense sticks.

In this regard a case has been registered in Puttur Town PS Cr. No. 115/09 u/s 24(e)(s), 80, 144, 71(a) r/w 169 K.F. Act and Sec 379 IPC and is under investigation.
