Four More Arrested In Nellyadi Robbery Case

It may be recalled that on 01/08/06, the Puttur Rural Police had arrested two persons in connection with the robbery committed in the house of Dr.Shastri at Hosamajalu of Koukradi village and had taken them for 03 days police custody for further interrogation and to apprehend the remainig accused.

CPI Puttur Rural Circle and staff based on the information provided by the accused have arrested all the remaining four accused in the last two days.
The names of the arrested are:

1. Dileep (25) R/o Bikkodu Belur taluk Hassan district. He was picked up by the police from his house on 03/08/06 and a portion of the gold jewellary and some cash has been seized. He is earlier invloved in some theft and sandal wood cases in Hassan district.

2. Eshwar (25) R/o Ekkashetta halli Belur taluk Hassan district. He was also picked from his house on the night of 03/08/06 and the share of jewellary and some cash which he had taken has been seized. He has a case of attempt to murder in Hassan district.

3. Masood (21) R/o Magoudi vil of NR Pur taluk of Chikmagalur district. He was arrested by the police on the early hours of 04/08/06 from his sister's house in Nagenahalli of Belur taluk Hassan district. On his confession some jewellary and cash has been recovered by the Police. He is earlier involved in a case of robbery in Chikmagalur district.

4. Sayed Zainuddin (27) R/o Coorg. He was arrested on the morning of 04/08/06 from Kokkada village of Puttur taluk and jewellary and cash seized. He has a case of sandal wood theft in Chikmaglur district.

From the interrogation of the accused, it is learnt that they had come to know each other while inside jail in Chikmagalur in connection with their previous offences. They have also disclosed that on the day of offence, they had been to various places in Hassan distrcit in search of sandal wood. When they could not find any sandal wood, the came to Nellyadi and committed this offence. While four of them had been to the house and committed the offence the remaining had provided support from the outside.

All the accused have been prodced before the jurisdictional court and remanded for judicial custody. Meanwhile the criminal case registered earlier as Robbery has now been converted to Dacoity as more than five persons are involved in the offence.
