Mid Year Crime Review: Crime Rate Dips Further In the District

The Mid Year Crime Review at the end of first six months of the current year (As on 30th June 06) indicate that the overall crime rate of the district for the current year show a declining trend as compared to the crimes reported during the first six months of the previous year.
While the total IPC crimes have declined by approximately 19%, serious crimes like Murders have declined by 21%. Similarly while 09 cases of Dacoity were reported during the first half of last year, only 02 cases have been reported during the current year till 30th June 06 thereby showing decline of 78%.
Under Property Offences, burglaries have reduced by 23% while house thefts have increased by 06%. Ordinary thefts have reduced by 14% and Motor vehicle thefts show a decline of 25%. Even offences liking cheating, criminal breach of trust...etc have reported less this year as compared to the first half of previous year.
Under Road Trafic Accidents; while fatal accidents have reduced by 06%, the non fatal (minor) accidents have reduced by 12%.
Under Body Offences; Riots have reduced by 33%, Hurts (Simple assault) by 37% and Attempt to murder by 10%.
Similarly all Other IPC offences have also reduced (by 15%) as compared to the first half of previous year.
Similarly, due to proactive policing by district police, large number of offences under Counterfeiting and Drug peddling have been detected during the current year. Due to frequent interaction and proper support given by district police to the deprived sections of the society, the Atrocity cases for the current year have reduced by more than half as compared to the first half of previous year.
A great cause of concern however is that certain heads under Offences Against Women show an increasing trend as compared to the previous year. While rapes and domestic torture by husband have increased considerably, molestation and dowry offences have reduced slightly.
