On the evening of 18-08-2006, the Mangalore city police under the leadership of DySP Mr.Harischandra conducted series of raids on certain video libraries and parlours suspected to be indulging in sale/display/circulation of obscene films. In one such raid conducted by CPI Traffic Mr.Uday Naik on Mayur Radio and Electronics shop located at Nayak Arcade Hampanakatta, police found 230 DVD/VCDs containing pronographic material. The search of the premise by the police also yielded 210 wrappers for these video CDs displaying obscene photos, cash Rs.1,320/ and a mobile phone. The police made seizure of all these items and arresed the following accused who were managing the library:

2. Jagadish (32) R/o Meramajalu Bantwal taluk
3. Ashok (30) R/o Mijaru Mangalore city

Total worth of materials seized is approximately Rs 20,000/. In this connection a case has been registered in Mangalore North PS U/s 292 of the Indian Penal Code.
