Nellyadi Robbery Case: Two Arrested

On 26/07/2006 at 2045 hrs at Hosamajalu Koukrodi village Puttur taluk, 04 unknown persons had entered the house of one Dr.C.Shivashankar Shastri (55) in the pretext of seeking treatment for stomach ache. Once inside, they had tied both Dr.Shastri and his wife Vasanthi with rope and then had taken away gold ornaments (266 gms) and cash of 22,000/. In this connection a case of Robbery was registered in Uppinangady Police Station on the morning of 27/07/06. The total value of property taken away was estimated to be Rs. 2,35,000/.

The case has now been detected with the arrest of two of the accused involved in the offence by CPI Puttur Rural Circle Mr.Manjunath Rai and staff of Puttur Rura Circle. The names of the arrested are:

1. Mohammed Bhava @Bhava (30) R/o Hosamajalu Koukradi vil Puttur taluk
2. Abbas @ One minute Abbas (25) R/o Uppinangady Puttur taluk.

Both the accused were picked from Udane on 01/08/06 at 1600 hrs while they were moving in a Maruti Omni bearing Reg No. KA-21-MA-727 belonging to the brother of Abbas. On search of the vehicle a gas cylinder believed to be stolen from the house of Dr.Shastri and a talwar were found and duly seized by the police. Further on their confession, police also recovered 240 gms of gold jewellery also stolen from the house of Dr.Shastri.

On sustained interrogation, the accused revealed the names of four others who had assisted them in committing this offence. Accordigly, the two accused have today (02/08/06) been produced before the court and have been taken for police custody till 04/08/06 to carryout further investigation and trace out the other accused.
